Did the launch release PS3 have 6?, they also say the PS3 is PS2 backwards compatible.

No the launch only had four, but the one they showcased at e3 2005 had six USB, it also had 2 HDMI and 3 ethernet.

To this day I still want to try that controller out...I think after getting some used to it that it could fit very nice in the hands.
