All I know is that in America "soccer" is what you play when your mother is too afraid to let you play "American Football". I actually played both in high school before the state made a rule that you had to get a special exemption to play two sports of the same season. I happened to be playing three as I was also a two time all-state cross country runner. I used the exemption to play football first and cross country second because I was much better at the two. I only played soccer to help with my foot work. I went on to play three games of one season of college football that was shortened by injuries. Soccer is nowhere near as brutal as football.

The word soccer is definitive. The word football, depending on your locale can mean a variety of different sports.
Also: The term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as an Oxford "-er" abbreviation of the word "association".

Lol...trust me, soccer has nothing that compares to a 360 pound man who can run 4.4 second 40 yard dash trying to come at you to rip your head off. Break a nail? I've seen players have fingers ripped off. That's hilarious.

Touche. I still don't think rugby is quite as rough. Rugby players don't go at each other as hard as football. But, I'll give you that American players wouldn't go at each other so hard without the pads. It wouldn't be possible without every single player being permanently injured. Then you have the pile ups where players at the bottom are trying to gouge each others eyes and hook their fingers in each others mouth to try and rip their face off where the refs can't see.

England had no chance in hell! They are a crap team who cannot play together.
They tried to copy Chelsea but I guess they forgot the scoring goals part :P
