It will be interesting to see where this leads. Surely a hybrid console would not be a bad thing, but a full on cloud PS4 would not be that much of a welcome sight.

oh well, i had high hopes for gakai....
guess sony will now destroy any potential it had. its likely we will see tv's with built in cloud consoles soon enough, hopefully with seperate titles from the dedicated consoles as it would suck for people like me with slow adsl internet |

I guess the only good cloud gaming can give us is playing games like Crysis 2 on highest settings with 60 FPS. I'll enjoy that if there is no quality lost and lag.

and it's funny when people say that next gen will be hacked, don't be funny, cloud is here to stay, that way they can control you even more with more drm and restrictions, i don't like the way console gaming is going anyway so who cares about the ps4.

the first maker to go cloud only loses the console war.
nobody wants to put all faith in a remote service that could vanish at a moments notice. people complained a bunch when psn went down, how much would they kick off if they had lost complete functionality of the console itself during that time. my guess of this news is as follows. 1. full game trials/demos to use this functionality 2. basic (teaser) gaming in sony tv's to sway people to buy a ps4 2. sony buy it to own the patents to sue others who may unwittingly infringe upon the technology 3. sony buy it so as to withhold it from potential competitors ( google / apple ) those examples are what i would do if i were a backstabbing, **** your userbase kinda corporation like sony |

People wants to collect something. Like DVD, UMD, limited edition case, etc. PSP Go went flopped because of lack of umd. Hope cloud gaming won't. A lot of us still have slow internet. I prefer a console that I can connect or disconnect if I want to. I think I'm not alone with this preference...

You can try Gaikai here:
http://www.greenmangaming.com/gaikai/ Greenman gaming has this portal so you can play demos through Gaikai, its free & in your browser. It's not bad, however settings are minimal & quality depends on internet speed. As the internet gets faster I imagine quality will get better but I still can't see this taking over from PC/console gaming at least for another 10 years. |
