The 3 mentioned errors are mostly generated by the source drive (e.g. the usb stick), not the target drive (the ps3 harddrive). The are unrelated to BD/BT errors.

Attempted with many different mediums with no luck. USB was formatted to fat32 with default allocation size. Please advise if the method I followed as incorrect

Downgrade instead of upgrade: WARNING DO NOT DO THIS IF CONSOLE IS ON FIRMWARE 3.56+ AS YOU CANNOT EXIT SERVICE MODE So I know a few of you have got yourselves a jailbreak dongle thinking it may be a good easy way out or a magic fix, sadly its not. But that doesn't mean it isn't useful! The only advantage it really has is it can downgrade instead of upgrade. Forget the factory/service mode XMB environment as it is pretty useless, it can't access user content or backup user content so from a repair point of view you cant do anything with it. The important thing is that you can use its boot process to read executables from a USB stick, thus the ability to downgrade. Downgrading is exactly the same as updating and it will fail for exactly the same reasons as a standard update so its worth keeping that in mind! The only difference is a downgrade is done blind as there is no progress bar or display during the process however a log file is generated showing if it completed successfully or where and what caused it to fail.

If you did, post the log file.

No I did not do this. Could you advise on a jailbreak dongle/jig for this procedure.

Yes, that will work. And if the downgrade fails, it will say why in in the log file. Which will help in figuring out what the problem is.

where would I' find the payload and the *.self files. Also could you provide some instructions on how I would downgrade with a jig.

Take a look here for setting up the jig.
Get the pup file from here.
Remember do not update with this procedure (same version or lower is fine). And do not downgrade to lower than your PS3 came with new from factory.
