Well, you better believe it, cloudgaming is here and it's to stay and in the end will replace 'local'gaming..
Buying Gaikai is only showing how smart Sony is, as it is a service which is already available and is also on the new samsung tv's, so Sony also profits from that as gaikai isn't free (only for demo's and trials and maybe a few small ones as an apetizer) so Sony win's any how.. Gaikai can run on the PS3 without any problem if they create a dedicated client for it. But for the current and next consoles, physical discs and downloadable games will still be there, but for the next after it propably won't.. Let's not forget, for a publisher this cloudgaming is the key to prevent piracy, as it isn't possible to own a copy anymore since the games are/will be highly optimized for the hardware that the cloud is running.. And well, in the end, these services are just like your Netflix, only for gaming, so you can play any game you want for a monthly fee, and the ammount of games you can play will grow with each month.. |

I highly doubt the PS3 will be cloud gaming only, If so they will exclude so many people that don't have fast internet connection. If anything they will have both cloud gaming and discs.

Some of you truly believe cloud gaming will stop piracy? I for one highly doubt it, maybe it will take 10+ years for peeps to figure it out, but I doubt piracy will ever go away completely.

learn to read and see what peoples issues are -.- i pay for my sh*t so how the hell do i and many others fit into your little stereotype? i and others have issues with an unsecure / financially unstable system like cloud gaming myself and around 80% of the country cannot make use of cloud gaming due to crap speeds and the service can be disrupted / removed leaving you with NOTHING!, not even offline play i hope you find yourself in cloud land with a powercut while the rest of the world enjoy their console and you sit there and cry you think psn outagges are bad? what happens when your whole damn system is shut down? anyone not seeing these issues are spoilt/ignorant/brats ( this is only aimed at @marty370 seeing as we are stereotyping here ) engage brain before fingers asshat! |

Also I never mentioned an all cloud service, I believe Sony will offer both an Cloud/console solution, or they would miss out on millions of potential customers. Physical media isn't going a way, just digital distribution is fast becoming the norm fast. Last edited by marty370; 07-03-2012 at 08:25 AM. |

i live in the UK too and for HD cloud gaming, 80% of the country cant handle it, especially with download limits imposed on those with slower connections as opposed to unlimited data for those with fibre. stream 1080p for a couple hours a day and see how quick it would eat up a monthly 300gb FUP (unlimited downloads lmao) i live only 40 miles from the nearest major city and we still dont have/not getting LLU for the forseeable future. most of the uk is rural and cloud gaming will not work here so if sony were stupid enough to rely on it then they would simply drive approx 80% of their customers away major towns and cities have cable/fibre so they are fine but the rest of us away from city limits have adsl only, we can blame BT for that for sure, but it will not change anytime soon. i am a "hater" of cloud based gaming as i cannot make use of a service that doesnt cater to the majority so i fall into your PIRATES/CHEATERS/FREE LOADERS category i guess i agree that SOME may not like it due to your reasons but the majority have real world issues with it (edit. and sorry, i may be a little "tetchy" today) |
