TB arent dead, they claim to be releasing a new product this month. They claim people with the old dongles will still be able to use their new eboots.

But what this means is that the new dongle will just have a new encryption to it most likely. If the current dongle can use it, the other teams will just have to crack it again to add to their own.

I dont get the point of making a new dongle, if clones can be made of the existing one, and they make a new one that tightens up their anticlone so it cant be cloned: why would anyone care about trying to clone the new TB if the old TB (which therefore must have less security) will still work with yet to be seen TB patches?

It seems pointless unless they have a new trick up their sleeves with this new dongle, in which case old TB customers WONT be supported, and will have to buy a new dongle.

The old dongles if useable will require an update at which time the malitious hdd destruction code will be implanted. Upon insertion into PS3, dongle varifies if it is indeed a TB registered product or clone and then formats your hdd either way.
