You can't blame Sony on this one, it is out of their hands, the game developer Atlus is putting the lock on it.

They might be doing because they want don't want others to import a game from one region and lose sales in another because the release dates are different.

They actually say they are doing this so they can charge more in one region than another.
MONEY. "Hey, Sorry we region locked this game but if we didn't we couldn't screw over a particular region with stupid high prices!" Sorry, if it gets cheaper to buy the game in another country and ship it halfway across the world than to buy locally, the game is over priced. Exchange rates are constantly blamed for this, but its BS. I've done the math. Big companies are always pulling this **** and its not good, boycott anything region locked. If they release at the same time (no reason they can't) and have reasonably close pricing (no reason they shouldn't) there is no need to import. Its artificial protection of geographic price gouging. Bastards. |

Thank You Brenza, for proving that people have a knee jerk reaction to hating Sony. The publisher decides if they want to region lock a game, not Sony. Atlus made the decision to region lock the game so that the European publisher isn't hurt by sales of imports when it finally gets released in Europe. Better luck next time.

To all who don't understand region locking it's simple. they can sell licenses ON TOP of the games retail sales to each regions publisher. i highly recommand not buying this game(to send the signal we don't agree with this move) they will unlock it or never do it in the future, but as always most sheeples don't care and will buy it anyway thinking it won't affect them
NOTE to all who say sony is not at fault i woudn't be so sure... It is my specu;lation at this time, i believe that sony does have some control over what publishers do. What happens behind closed doors will always be known much later or not at all by the public , but Sony sells the rights to publish games on their console. So they be sure to check it's contents for exploits to prevent their system from being hacked in the end i'm sure it's sony who gives the "final" ok Last edited by Shezed; 07-10-2012 at 08:20 AM. |
