OK all the arguing aside, will this ACTUALLY lead somewhere or is it close to useless?

I read that DEX can read unsigned code etc which is great but then you need the specific eboots which are hard to come by etc....I don't really get this anymore...

So in reality will this be any use anytime soon?

that part you quoted is the root key part. that i understand perfectly.

from 0x00 to 0x1F you have the erks and from 0X1F to 0x2F you have the riv (root initialization vector)

They're still trying to fix the PSP with every new firmware release, so why wouldn't they try it for the PS3.. Even with the new console on the horizon, Sony is still counting on the PS3 being sold in big numbers, just like the older consoles did when their new counterpart came out.. But for now I'll dev hombrew on rebug 3.55...
