Excuse me but i think there's no problem in playing 3.56+ backup
You can just update to 4.xx debug firmware and use the debug's bd emulation with the backup to play them from external hdd. All you need is ps3gen and a blank usb hdd (it uses a private filesystem so all games'll work, even the ones with bigfile)

ps3'll decrypt all the eboot as the x.yz debug ofw contains the same keys as x.yz retail ofw



everybody can do this, n00bs have just to wait for someone release somthing that patch idps automatically :asd:

Yes to the limit of the factory firmware.

might add that you can only downgrade to 3.55 ofw since the ps3 will check all files agains the spkg hashes so no downgrade back to cfw unless youve got a flasher.
