Being angry because infos about this method have being leaked, pretending to have paternity on this, or spreading misinformations with some piracy lessons are not something easy to defend.
But even technical lies can have good effects:
Since Sony knew it was used (please correct this if you know about possible FW update related) by somes or if you don t wish dongles makers use it also (if of course you are not yourself dongle/flasher maker friend).

Having sold hundreds fake tests for the double retail price unit is also something hard to defend.
But it can be see as expertise fee, or like people charging for CFW install.

Personally i think it is not correct at all but there are some valid arguments to have keep/protect this.

Fews years ago, if you was able to delay the release of CFW 3.55, and keep using dongles/phones and others hardware for the original jailbreak until there are somes majors games/ updates (like about PS VITA) or closer to the end of the life of PS3.
Of course, this is valid if the release don t happens 10 years after.

But actual context seems fine to don t delay anymore.

Peoples mentioned also lot of great devs left the scene after dramas and secret, and i read also this leak can attract news devs.
Dean mentioned PS3 debug was not necessary to code.

But is it just about ProDG or also about the climat around?

I have a feeling that for some DRM devs this info would have made their life easier with dlc&update support if it were known to them only .
Btw, I did notice on ps3devwiki that 4.20dex pup was officially released nearly a week ago.

I do see some devs sharing some technical details about the dex ,on its current state, to reduce the hype from the end-user.
But well, lets be honest, some also have forgotten to mention how powerful are the tools that it brings (the word 'debugging' sums it up), and not to mention the abilities to enhance it with you own-made tools.

Yes it was removed, but still, it was RELEASED, you can read by yourself about the 'details' of what inside the pup (where the hash checks and entry_ids).
Anyway, this file is somewhere floating around .
