So I am just returning after being given a 7 day ban, and I have some concerns. I've been a member for years but this was the first time I'd ever been infracted, so I'd never really thought about this stuff before. I thought it best to post my concerns here and get some authoritative input.

First, I guess my overarching/primary concern is with the ban appeal procedure itself. After reading the rules about appealing bans/infractions, I discovered that the only way to do so is by posting a new thread about it. But during my 7-day ban, I was restricted from posting at all. How is that supposed to work then? In order to get someone to double-check my ban and re-instate my posting rights, I had to post something? Seems like an oxymoron. There's gotta be a better way, something I missed, right?

Second, I would just like to talk about the specific behavior for which I was banned. I don't need to get into details and rehash anything, honestly -- but I am genuinely unclear on why I was banned. The reason given was "trolling," but I guess I don't know what that term means. I thought I did, but I was penalized for posting something that I 100% believe was respectful, mature, and relevant. My last post prior to the ban (here: http://www.ps3hax.net/showpost.php?p...6&postcount=44) has been hidden from public view, so I'm hoping some moderator can look at it and tell me why I got banned like I did.

Basically, I just want to know what I did wrong, so that I can avoid it in the future. I am hesitant to post anything right now because I'm worried I'll get jumped on again, and I can't imagine that's the right atmosphere we want to create here.

It's comments like these that make me feel like my opinion and viewpoint are not welcome. The sarcasm is not appreciated, especially at a time when I'm asking for honest feedback.

Just to be clear: my point of this thread has nothing to do with the duration of the ban, but the ban itself.

I guess I'm wondering what you mean by "trolling" then, because my understanding of it must be wrong. I thought the term was used for behavior/posts with no other purpose than to be inflammatory or inciteful. Like, no productive goal, just to take a thread off-topic or derail conversation. My posts were completely on point and were furthering conversation, not derailing it, so you can see why I'm confused that it's categorized as "trolling."

Also, I apologize if I ever attacked you. I certainly never meant to, and I'm going to search over all my previous posts to try and find where I may have done this to you. I know that I have defended deank many times in the past, but only because I have yet to see actual evidence of the various accusations people make. And that goes for all developers, not just him.

Anyway, we don't need to beat a dead horse here, I'd rather focus on the matter of trolling so that I can understand what is and isn't acceptable here. I like this site a lot, and my goal is just to stay within the rules so this doesn't happen again.

It's easy, since Deank choose to remove his status from Hax. Well it's not the concept of *trolling* it's a clash of different point of views. (you and greg).
Never talked with him but he acted like a ****** since he demoted himself from here and cut all kind of line of civilized communication and started to troll on the board.

Avoid voice your opinion about Deank, and you will stay out of problems. It's my piece of advice since he *betrayed* the (this) community with a lame excuse that he have 3 more sites to do mM updates and don't need hax.

It's your call keep commenting about on some thread with some much *heath* about him (if happens again) but now you know the consequences about that kind of actions.

Just my thought but I feel he's being sincere about this..... and obviously isn't going the route that so many people decide to take with their ban-appeals (...STLcards...LethalNFS...)

Yes, it may not be the BEST idea to speak about your love (or hate) for deanK but people shouldn't live in fear because somebody else (general or authority user) has an alternative opinion of said person. and I KNOW people are scared to say what they think because other people continuously jump down people's throats and belittle/berate/judge others' actions.

Be known though that there is a lot of hate for DeanK now in the community (especially here). It is a really thin line though sometimes deciphering between bullshirt and not bullshirt. Unless you really are wearing a shirt with a bull on it...

I don't know @Benzonia personally, but I don't necessarily think he's doing things on purpose. But maybe I am still the gullible, naive and ever trusting person I usually am. Could be this, could be that. Just my thought.
