You cannot instal linux on a 4.20 ps3, so there for you cannot dump.

It would be interesting to know if it works for flasher made dumps... then it might work higher up than 3.55

I will test this when I get home nice release!

I believe if you do a md5 checksum on the original nor.bin and the one you produce they should be the same. Since you're not adding or taking away anything from the file and reencrypt it with the proper algorithm the md5 should match before flashing. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I don't think it will because a normal flash dump is encrypted, the metldrpwn dumps a decrypted metldr.

I'm going to attempt the conversion.
First I'm going to use this to install petitboot and rnd linux for getting per console keys with metldrpwn using this http://wiki.gitbrew.org/wikibrew/Metldrpwn

(Is there any other way?)

Second, I have to dump the 16 MB NOR image ( can I do that using the same linux distro above? what is the better tool for this?)
Is the dump_flash.pkg from http://gitbrew.org/~glevand/ps3/pkgs/ good for this or is it only NAND only ?

Third, I'll use the c2d tool provided here (thanks a lot for that)
Fourth, I'll have a look at the files with some hex editor (just to check I'm not going to write 00 00 00 s all over my console)

And last... flash the DEX.

Am I missing something?

I would highly recommend you first get a hardware flasher, just in case anything goes wrong.
No offense to the author but what if this program is not as reliable as he says?

not really. you change 0xC1 bytes from it, the 5th target id byte and the 0xC0 bytes of the first EID0 section. so the md5sum would have to differ
