I figured my introduction is better late than never, I now seem to lurk every extra moment I have.

The name is Chris. I just love making something do what it wasn't designed to, it's an addiction for me. I'm the guy that everyone comes to if they want something modded (or as they would say: 'hacked'). The PS2 is where I started heavily modding (softmod, larger HDD, etc). Other achievements include TI-84, WII, TiVO, and countless Android based tablets and phones. My greatest achievement was more of a kludge than anything; had a motherboard from an old laptop, touchscreen from a register at work, and a set of X10 equipment. I was able to make (and program) my own complete home automation system with VB (Yes, I'm trying to learn other languages :P).

As far as my PS3 experience, I purchased an original PS3 for $50 that wasn't functioning, I replaced the thermal compound, cleaned it up and got it working again. It was stolen before I even had the chance to purchase a game for it (still have the controller too!). It's taken me 3 years to buy a new one, and that's where I found you guys looking for a CFW! (No, I didn't post a thread about it - I actually read the banner!) My console is the 30XXB so I can't do jack with it, though I'm hopefully getting something to downgrade soon.

Looking forward to what the scene has in store for the PS3 (after my lurking I feel that statement alone could start a flame war), and beyond!

hello and welcome to the forums ! lol and since your console is a 30xxb series there could be some old ps3s on ebay u can get if u want to trade i guess but hey its up to u lol but if u are looking for an older model i would suggest a 250xa series as long as its dec 2010 or earlier. but also welcome ! lol.

There is no way I'll be trading my current machine, I hope to get another console to downgrade from somewhere locally. It seems that a few pawn shops are begging to get rid of broken ps3s lately.

Peoria Illinois ? That makes 2 of us, in "Illinois" that is I personally hate this state & the corrupt governments ! Anyways welcome & enjoy the good in the PS3 scene ,stay clear of "drama wars" in the PS3 scene .The "FLAME" will find you one way or another, lol

Yep, good ole Peoria. It seems this city traps you in, once you live here you're stuck. Can't make enough to get out and I don't know anyone elsewhere to help me escape!

I keep picturing the peoria exit sign i believe was on (I-88) highway .The image in my mind from over 10+yrs ago . I cant help it when i used to go to ottawa IL I always seen peoria if i passed the ottawa exit i used to go to. I cant remember if you are in that area close to ottawa or not ?

I am to lazy now to look at the map ,lol If you are close to ottowa IL in that area in is understandable ..

Ottowa is about 2 hours away, half way between here and Naperville which is another city I used to frequent.
