Donation for services rendered
Ok, so most of you will have noticed all the poo being throw about on both sides of the pro-dev and anti-dev fence over the last few days.
One thing that has been mentioned more than once is the amount of time spent on hacking the PS3. I am curious whether or not people would be happy to pay a sum of £24 a year for FULL disclosure of all works being worked on, and methods released, not kept hidden from the 'unworthy' I will use the figure of 10 as a reasonable assessment of the amount of devs who may work as a TEAM to complete any works, so going on a donation base of ONLY 1,000 that would give each dev a sum of £2,400 per annum for their time and effort, which seems more than fair to me as payment for what can only really be a hobby to them. Yes, I know it's a silly idea etc, but try and give an honest answer please

it still wouldnt be enough for the ones who have proven to be anti-freedom of information.
it has been proven that they are not simply in it for the knowledge to be gained/shared but for personal gain one way or another. besides, sharing all info would lead to piracy right LMAO

I would do it, but I doubt a slight bit of money would help. Most in this scene would want to release under their own name to gain a larger epenis as well as the cash. Both cannot be had when releasing something risky that might put them in court.

No I would not.
You could pay and end up with nothing, or not pay and end up with something.

Not any more no. I think a lot of people will be thinking the same now.
Devs can ask for donation when they make a release, but for the last year almost all releases have been for other devs to use, not the end user, and hence no donations. But then you have oct0xor who release the ps3cheat dongle, problem here was that not everyone wants cheats, so that only attracted a few donations. Of course he got a silly troll donating a few pennies, but I think he got more, not sure how much though. Now will he work on TB or E3? Who knows, may be put off as he didnt get enough donations. But the biggest problem has been caused by the dongle-makers and the sell-out devs. If people do pay this fee and you do get a few devs in to work and release all their findings, there is nothing to stop others from stealing that work again, filling in the missing piece, make another dongle and selling it for profit. So in effect people would end up paying the dongle maker twice if they buy the dongle, first when donating to the scene devs, then again tot he dongle makers who stole the scene devs' work. Hence why the scene is ruined, and dongle lovers cannot seem to realise this and continue supporting them. So unless the release is a real cfw 4.20 for all consoles, then I dont see people donatng much at all to the devs.
