This is a good idea think somtimes the same , but how japsander say it:

it still wouldnt be enough for the ones who have proven to be anti-freedom of information.

it has been proven that they are not simply in it for the knowledge to be gained/shared but for personal gain one way or another.
Because of this, i doubt this brings the things in the right direction.

I've donated to DEVS in the past year and this site as a vehicle for all DEVS to showcase their work so, yeah I would. I even look at my purchase of the Cobra as a one time donation.

While i do believe the scene should be free and no one has to pay or donate anything, i also think, the amount of work it is put into something, and the amount of hours they spend doing so is to be rewarded, that is why i have donated already to people i think that deserve so, in the end is up to everyone, and i don't expect people that are only here to leech to even pay a single dime, they are here to take not to give back, but those of us that know how hard this is are glad to help/donate when we can, thats why i wouldn't mind.

in the end this would be similar to something that i tried starting a few months ago, but no one showed any interest, starting a fund.

If devs set up fully planned out "kick starters" I would think about donating... (while it might not be the same: ) but then look what Adrianc did.

Nothing against you mate, but it was common knowledge that you were part of the 'in crowd' well before all this blew up, so if you can get your 'friends' to come down off their thrones and have similar feelings as you appear to have, I am Certain your fund would get Much more support.

Arrogance breeds contempt, and that has Never been more obvious as it is here when even die-hard dev supporters are calling them out for acting like ego-maniacal twats lol

No, I would not

Trying to standardize donations will not bring any benefit to the scene and will feed a market that should never exist, IMHO.

if releases are at a state where donations are required then the scene is corporate and is not part of a hacking scene.

donations are made out of generosity.
you a dev and no donations pissing you off? your in the scene for the wrong reasons then.

when i receive a function that i can use and is of importance to me then i will donate but until then i will not donate for services to be rendered with no gaurentee and to expect it is the kind of **** excuses we see from devs who say how ungrateful the scene is regarding donations etc and who show their goal is monetory wealth and not wealth of knowledge

@LoboGuara better donate to devs out of your own free will, than to pay dongle makers, my opinion though, and i know you are against dongles, so its not a jab directed towards you, just i prefer donating freely than pay someone.

Standardizing the donations, you're creating a payment (a salary), with the difference that the devs would not have any obligation to provide services and who "donate" will not have any right to demand anything. If a dev come up with something relevant, Ill be the first to make a donation (which I already do when i like a freeware software).

"Donating Freely" under these conditions is not better than pay for a dongle. After buying a dongle you are paying in the same way, but for (ideologies apart) a real product.

I do not like drm dongles, but I'm not in a crusade against them. Being honest, I have no idea why you thought I would be offended by your opinion
