Blue led = 100% bd problem / don't format the hdd it has no sense

You can downgrade going in service mode using some special jcrab "no bd check" self but as other said then you can't run homebrews or play psn games and logically blu ray or and cd-dvd

WARNING: if you try to update to 4.20 you will be stuck in the update loop and have to put ps3 in service mode using a dongle or an iphone 3 or oldest-ipod (i uded it) so before do anything fix the bd...

I think the problem is with ribbon cable i passed one month on my ps3 trying to make my bd working i suggest you to check the ribbon cable is right positioned it has only one way you can't change it and make attention with the connector on the mother board it's fu**ing frail at least on phat console!!

Remember that the problem is or with the ribbon cable ir with the logic board of bd the lense doesn't give you any problem...

I don't think it is the blue ray drive. Not if the update loop is getting to 99%.

75%-99% Cause: From this point onwards the update is in a stage of verification and why you sometimes see it jump from 80% to 100% as it should be almost instantaneous. This is where pretty much any issues to do with the hard drive are detected from any write failures and normally down to corrupts sectors. If the update makes it to 98-99% can be either a corrupt boot sector on the HDD or the reset signal on the motherboard is not working. Fixes: For a faulty reset signal, simply changing power supplies has fixed the problem in all of my cases; other than that I am unsure how else to fix the signal without swapping power supplies. If it is the HDD at fault then you will have to swap hard drives and then install another and update the console like outlined in the 0%-40% fixes list.

I tried again , and once again stuck in 99% but this time i could hear clicks... i restarted and now it can't detect the hard drive... hdd has died! Makes that dreadful clicking noise (connected it to pc). Oh well. Thanks for all the replies. This ps3 is going on ebay. 60gb models give too many issues.

So if i want CFW i should be buying a Slim 160gb or the Killzone 3 pack? Read in other posts that these tend to come with 3.50 firmware, is it true or just a luck thing?
