Are you sure your connectors are all still connected correctly? otherwise, have you tried the 'reset display resolution' (or whatever it's called) which is explained in the original PS3 manual (it's like holding some buttons while you turn on your PS3, can't remember exactly what it was)..

I am going to try to flash my cexnor.bin back to my ps3.

I have red ribbon rc5(linux2.6.38) running from a usb drive.

What command should I use if I have cexnor.bin in /root/

I am logged in as root. When I open a terminal and type

ls

I see all files contained in /root/.

Since the command

ls

displayed the contents of the /root/ folder, I would guess the command I need to use is:

dd if=cexnor.bin of=ps3nflasha bs=1024

Is this correct?
Or do I have to type something between dd if= and cexnor.bin?

My usb linux installation is in the usb port closest to the bd drive(right most port)

I just want to reiterate and hopefully a Mod can add it to the front page
Do not use a flash dump made from the GameOS (memtool, etc)
If you want to do it now then follow the various Linux tutorials out and about.

I got a PM from @timmi3 and he had noticed his MD5 was different between his Linux dump and one made from an app in the GameOS.
There is a way around this and it will be available sometime soon

So if you are going to do this then follow the Linux tutorials, otherwise wait!

I don't see what the fuss is, i used gitbrew dump-flash.pkg and a fat32 usb
norunpack.exe which decypted my nor dump and gave me metldr
EID Extractor.pkg (proberly not used in run.sh script anyways)

followed rest of steps and bam im on dex

The problem is that dump-flash.pkg will dump byte reveresed to e3, so when you use e3 you need that mem dump isnt tht the theroy? which your confusing people with..

Also to check if your flash dump is correct unpack it with norunpack.exe if it fails the obviously you dump is incorrect.

also check file size and compare with graf's which i think should be 16,777254 or something like that

Done Simple Works, no Complaints

thx for the warning
anyway
just checked some different dumps from the same console/firmware
dumped with either linux/memdump, md5 match up fine/identical, always good to use HxD analysis-compare option, maybe he changed the cex targetID like explained in the guide and instead of using the original to check "hash" thats why the hash was wrong?! just guessing, only saying dumps made with linux/memdump are the same on my end
could not test with e3 atm on this "firmware" i have e3 dumps from it, atleast the "firmware offset part" is different an d acouple FFFFF where the other has code... again petitboot and memdump are identical

ps: and yes E3 dump(byte reversed FI.I header) THEY need to be byte reversed again before using with the guide ( reading as IFI header) like the software dumps are
using E3 dump for this, use Flowrebuilder, load e3 bkpps3.bin original dump and choose the last option = Byte reverse a dump" u'll get "bkpps3.swap.bin" rename to "flashcex.bin" and verify if the HEADER reads IFI now, then proceed with tutorial, after cex2dex e3 dump and using e3 flasher to rstore it, fireup Flowrebuilder again and do the same = Byte reverse dump" so it reads FI.I header again(check with HxD offset 200)
rename back to "bkpps3.bin" and flash it back

HDD-Brick

Hey,

just wanted to share my story of how i bricked my ps3

i have a slim which came with 3.50 preinstalled.
I followed the cex2dex tutorial and everything was fine. First i installed 3.55Dex and then updated to 4.11dex.
When i wanted to downgrade again it gave the 8002F282 error no matter which fw i tried, in recovery the error was 8002f2c5 but i guess they both mean that the data is corrupted.

Now the "funny" part starts
I was stupid enough to try lv2diag.self for 3.55 downgrading on 4.11 dex which left me stuck in factory service mode and downgrading was still not working.
I then took out my hdd and formatted it on the pc because i read somewhere it could help.
Now the ps3 won't even boot up anymore just shuts off after some time.
When I try to enter recovery mode it beeps all nice but then just shuts down.

Don't think there is much hope other than a flasher or has anybody an idea?
