I don't have GT5 so can't test, but I don't see why it shouldn't work. I'll try making fake updates for games that don't have any.

Thank you. Also please inform us about "fake updates". It seems interesting

I can do all the following...

cd /tmp
cd /tmp/petitboot
cd /tmp/petitboot/mnt

But it will not go into sda1. If memory serves this is the usb drive? IDK. But the error bin:ash cannot cd into /tmp/petitboot/mnt/sda1

I have tried all variants of sda1 to sda0 e.g. 1-9 and 0.

Do I need to mount it? Do I need to change permissions? Any help is appreciated.
Do "ls" in /tmp/petitboot/mnt/ and it will show you the available mount point.

My USB drive shows as "sde1" if that helps.

Also, please remember that Bleh's tut is for NOR and not NAND so the offsets stated in that tut are for NOR only!

You need to unmount sda1 with the unmount command, then you must change the permissions with chmod 777, then ... you must mount sda1 whit mount command

In case, you probably already figure out but if others was wondering about this game you mentioned:

Totori Atelier have update (1.02 at least the Japanese version have)
You can play this game (but don t update) on any classic 3.55 (and there are mandatory install of 1149mb)

You can find infos on update on the ps3 dev wiki :PARAM.SFO page

There are fews things not so clear about it on this page (like you can play with your original 3.60 disc game if the update game is signed with 3.55 on any 3.55, how it react with disc.sfo...) but necessary infos are there.
(note: i should have complete this part on the wiki since it was easy. You will see, it s not hard but just time consuming).
You asked if we can do fake update: yes. Like the fix from PSN game (being also the best way when you want to edit your reluctant/stuck param.sfo on some category of game)

PS3DECHUpdateData.355.001d

hey guys some bluray fix confusion

edit
all fixed
if the converted dex load/play Retail game disc, no need for "drivefix" , it doesn't mess up blu-ray, dex won't play blu-ray/dvd movies

HELP! Stuck in DEBUG mode

I know it might be laughable but I set an option on Debug to Reset mode : debug or something and I'm stuck with a black screen everytime my console starts..
ProDG Target Manager finds my PS3 but can't connect to it (it never did even in release mode, that's why I tried Debug mode.. )

EDIT:

Nevermind, i managed to exit. [ as with video reset power button procedure ]

On the other hand, would someone tell me why would ProDG Target Manager fail to connect to the PS3 with Command timed out? It manages to find it as target but can't connect.

DebugBrian and JonahUK,

Thanks for the help. I got the installer to work now, but now its giving me the error on directories no existing...

mnt/debian/etc
mnt/debian/tmp
mnt/debian/dev

And a few more, no such file or directory. I set the WiFi settings in GameOS, seems to be connecting to FTP. IDK what to do now.

(BTW Thank you for LS command, I knew thats what I probably needed, but I was using dos commands LIST and DIR, now I know for the future)

Also will be keeping Linux on my System.

This is the errors...might be able to help me if you can see them. Best pic I could get...

Setting wifi in gameos has nothing to do with getting a working network in linux.
Get a cable for your ps3. If you've just learnt your first linux command "ls", you don't wanna know what you're suppose to do to connect to wifi from linux terminal .
