Upgrade new harddisk help needed?
I replaced my old 80GB HDD which was on CFW Rogero 3.1 firmware and replaced it with a 500GB HDD which has now become firmware 2.76. Why did this happen?
I installled the new 500GB HDD in the PS3 and put the CFW Rogero3.1 in PS3\UPDATE\ directory on the usb drive but when it formatted it the update resulted in 2.76fw? How do I get to CFW Rogero3.1. I did a backup of the 80GB HDD, can I use it and do a restore on the new 500GB HDD to change the 2.76fw to the CFW? Also I want to upgrade another PS3 HDD, what should the procedure be? |

Hmm interesting, could be the pup installed the factory firmware onto the ps3, the firmware the console was shipped with.
Though arent updates supposed to check the old flash??? Just wondering if someone could check with a ofw 4.11 console see if this pup allow downgrading?

If the console had Qa flag toggled on, it will look at the disc drive first for the pup file.
Take the disc out of the drive and update to Rogero from system update, via storage device. To upgrade your ps3s hdd, Backup old hdd to an external hdd, with backup utility. Insert new hdd and flash drive with pup in correct file structure. USB root: PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP. Follow on screen instructions. Then restore your backup from external hdd, with backup utility.

When installed the 500GB HDD it was requesting I put firmware 3.55 and above, so I followed the prompts to format and install firmware, but when it boots it is not rogero and is 2.76 (used the file R_CFW_V3.1_PS3UPDAT renamed to PS3UPDAT in PS3/UPDATE folder). When I press the power button to get to service mode it asks for 2.76 and above. The model is CECHK01
Should I have pressed the power button until I get to service mode and did the restore or format or system update instead? |

Then go to system update on the xmb and install this OFW3.55 pup. Then install this Rogero v3.4 pup from the same system update on xmb. If you are on OFW2.76 there is no reason to go into recovery menu.
