its not called Factory Service Mode, its called recovery mode.
Factory Service Mode and recovery mode are 2 different things.

Are you able to play all games to 4.11? Even back-ups?
I understand that multiman won't work. So I would have to forget about back-ups.

you can flash between cexflash.bin and dexflash.bin (Kmeaw - 3.55 DEX ) without problem .. you can also just rewrite your EID instead of flashing the whole nor ..

doesnt format the hdd ..

for 4.11dex - 3.55 dex just use downgrader.PUP

Hmm.... Well how did the Trueblu team get around having to turn your console into a dex console and use the BDemu? Or did they have to and you had to reformat your drive?

Do I need to burn the ISO to a CD or DVD??? Is it the same??? And at first steps, do I need to put the PS3 into service mode or just go to the recovery menu to install OTHEROS++ pup? Thanks

Would it be possible for the DEX firmware to look at the internal HDD instead of a external USB? I know it formats the internal drive, but if we could somehow point it towards a partition the internal drive we could bypass the mandatory 4 partition on external HDD format and use the internal drive as it is used on 3.55 CFW.

Also, if multiman (or any other .pkg) could bypass the "install patch to run backups" requirement, I'm sure DEX conversion would become a VERY attractive proposition.
