Don't know why HOMEBREW scene can't be content with 3.55CFW. It only Pirates that keep wanting more.

So devnet plays a big role in this thing, since the ones who wants to connect with a DEX machine will run into some (minor) problems.
Afterall the conversion is done, and you had a retail console that now it's a debug *unit*.

Pirates = Money talks. Homebrew = Utopic.

I know pirates take full advantage of this but there's always another side...
Running your own backups and Warez = Very THIN line.
Sony is crystal clear on that area, even in legals when last year or this year (i don't recall well) when many users signed a petition to legalize homebrews and was declined.
You own the product, but at the same time you don't own it. (that's the way that sony works)

All they care is not losing money, they are not sceners to actually care. Also I could care less what an ill-minded dev thinks about things like CEX->DEX. You just can't have the luxury saying "I can't share that because of Sony" and just then sell your soul to the hell called "DRM Dongles", it's just a foolish and childish move because you chose to have your own people being your enemies instead of a company that either way it's your enemy whether you are a dev, a costumer or a hacker. Those people are just mentaly ill and when I say mentally ill i mean it with no overdose of humor or something. They have serious personal problems like making right decisions for their lifes and being disconnected from real world.

These guys, (the devs) had something of their own (the cex to dex conversion method) that they were able to share with those they thought worthy, and between themselves, in their small clique, some of them branched off, going their own seperate ways, and were able to figure out a method to release the true blue dongle...........I hate the true blue dongle and all it stands for, but at least it was a method for some to play the latest released games................that method will now be removed because of the cex2dex release info. I wish we lived in a world where all information could be safely released, but we do not...............this cex2dex conversion information will ultimately be remembered as being the info that helped 1% of us play pirated games while the other 99% of us are left in the same place as we were before the info was released wondering what will be released next.

As KaKaRoTo said, it isn't about piracy at all, it's about every console bought after January 2011 cannot enjoy HOMEBREW.
You may be content with 3.55CFW (which is nice), but many cannot even have 3.55CFW to begin with.

It seems a bit bold(and slightly dramatic) to say "The PS3 has been hacked" when at the end of the day those of us on official firmware still don't benefit from this hack, only the small minority of users on 3.55 or below will actually benefit from this "hack".

How does this show you that? If the devs kept it to themselves, the scene would have gone nowhere. If you don't want to get sued, release anonymously.
There you are completely wrong. IF it had not been leaked, the devs might have found more loopholes using this, or just holes in Sony's security in general through this. When this leaked, they stopped using this to try and find holes in Sony's security. I assume the reason is since it is going to be patched. It might have led to more after time, after all, take into consideration they were able to find this out to begin with.

Now, the best we can do now that it is out, is use it to its fullest, and not let it go to waste what they have intentionally or unintentionally given us. That would be the biggest shame ever...

Sony knew as soon as it was posted on any site.
Surely it is obvious that Sony keep their eyes on the scene sites, no one would have to tell them.
