They havent blocked the PSN Passphrase exploit yet (2 OFWs later).
DEX units are a relatively small thing in comparison to people hacking into and playing their warez on PSN.. thats always been a big one for them..

Well all I can say is yeah of course sony knows. you truely think there isn't someone in sony's multi billion dollar pay roll that reports this sort of info to the rest of the company? Because of the leaked info Sony will most certainly patch this.

Well, that's the problem with google, it's tailered to your searches which means if YOU search with the same keywords or I do, we both get different results (that's why I let my collegue search as he seems to always get the correct results whereas I just get endless junk).

As far as I remember, the PSN Passphrase exploit isn't really an exploit, it's just that some people have found the phrases for those specific timeperiods, and have a means now to find it on a regular basis. As long as it isn't publicly available Sony doesn't really have a problem and in the mean time they can try to find new ways to better secure their console (you have to remember that every OFW must be able to load a newer FW, so it's very difficult to block something like a passphrase as OFW wouldn't also be able to connect.)

Personally I wouldn't even mind if Sony actually would have some security measures which scans you console for pirated games and online cheats and block your console, but wouldn't mind homebrew, then I would be on OFW immediatly..

I don't get it.. When we are buying our consoles. we are owning it or renting it?..Because as far as my knowledge goes. i know when you buy something and "own" it its you're to do whatever you like. sony already got your cash.. even if you're sharing it online. if you're sharing something sony did not make. example:Custom firmware. Them don't have the right to use legal action against anyone. And if something is sharing online its a "option" to who ever wanna do the modification to "their" console. It's not like if the hacker is going to automatically inject the firmware to everyone consoles.. if i want to hack my playstation 3. i'll do it because the OPTION is there we can't let sony do this to us. We have more rights than sony in this case.. sony might have a lot of lawyers but what right is right and whats wrong is wrong....If i choose to share codes that can hack playstation to the people who "CHOOSE" to hack. then i don't think anything is wrong. Because at the end of the day. its only an option you're giving to people who will like hacking their ps3's

You are right but for one thing.

Almost all, if not actually all, CFW and the like have been made by using software which we do NOT have the Legal Right to use.

EDIT Also as Sony's OFW is not open source, we are also breaking the law by making a customised version of it anyway. The hardware is different to the software in this case.

Make a clean New FW for it and Sony cannot say a thing, but modify their FW and they can.

i swear microsoft tryed to sort of do the same but a diffent way . we couldnt install 3rd partie programs etc on windows . untill they lost at court and people was able to legal .

Dude - whatever the hell did you do with your DEX that is oh so important that you should be entitled to always be able to update - apart from a SDL port of Roar (the sound is STILL BROKEN - after a year - this is a disgrace -how hard is it to convert int16 sound to float exactly?) and - that ONE thing - to which it's debatable how much stuff you contributed exactly - and besides, the source STILL hasn't been released - a year from today? I'm still wondering if that ONE program consisted of just a bunch of exitspawn lines - which, BTW, could be determined by you releasing the source. But we know that won't happen, now do we? I requested it a number of times on your Twitter - only thing I got was you blocking me.

You know, you guys talk a big game about believing in 'open source' - but your actions are the exact opposite of it. Truth is - you guys are engaging in self-deception, and are still for better or worse a little warez outfit. Even a guy on Mathieulh's forum said exactly that.
