after i do this, my ps3 doesnt recognize my jb king.. in the system menu says my firmware is fw 3.55.. but if i pull the dongle out the ps3 turn off.. and my pc still recognize the jb king and i still can update this..


agh.. help please..

Try recovery back to 2.3, then use the plug and unplug trick to update to 2.7. I don't think you can kill the JBK dongle this easily.

I'm posting this message for all the guys who had problems with upgrading their jb-king dongle!
I followed both the Captain's & Nicolas tutorials step by step a few times yet when starting my PS3, System Information was showing: v3.55 Trueblue 2.4
The problem was I didn't use TrueBlue-3.55-CFW-v2
If you want this to work you MUST use the above CFW!!!

please help guyes i tried all methods many times and it doesnt work for me ,, my ps3 doesnt start up when my dongle in usb port ,, what is wrong ,, i post some threads asking help in the help section and no useful answer yet pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze heeeeeeeeeeeelp

what method did you use to upgrade the dongle?
I used the one from jb-king.com,

There is a download link for the v2.7 upgrade in which you first need to use the upgrade 20111220.dfu file (2.3) -> this file can be found in the 2.51 package (here)
After installing upgrade 20111220.dfu you should remove the dongle then insert it again WITHOUT pressing the upgrade button of the dongle.
Wait for a few seconds then remove the dongle.
Then you should upgrade to 2.7 - you can find a word document explaining how to do it in the 2.7 download from jb-king

Basically this is what Nicolas19 submitted.

Does this 2.7 update still have the necessary mechanisms to prevent an HDD format? Or will I risk a HDD wipe if I play the newer eboots. Thanks in advance.

Downgrade to FW 2.3 Then Upgrade your Dongle Only With S_2.7.dfu File
