anyway they r using some kind of BD-IMAGE emulator of DEX this way but what about using BD-R/E which game developers normally use on their debug units on 1 partition?

24) Reboot your console and install 3.55 DEX FW

25) To switch back to retail, simply double click on your 355CEX.EID0.NORBIN, reboot and reinstall a 3.55 CFW of your preference

Hi,
i have followed your tutorial and now i'm on 4.11 dex, but i have a question:
how can i switch back to retail if multiman wont boot on 4.11 dex fw (error 80010017)?

The following is part of a great tutorial posted by deank @ ps3crunch:
32. To get back to CEX/CFW from DEX:
* Install 3.55DEX_downgrader firmware: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/firm...r/PS3UPDAT.PUP
* Use your original NOR dump (my-original-cex.NORBIN) and rename it to (my-original-cex.EID0.NORBIN)
* Double click on your CEX NOR file in mmOS (i.e. /dev_hdd0/my-original-cex.EID0.NORBIN)
* Quit multiMAN, Reboot your PS3 and install OFW/CFW 3.55 from XMB
The tutorial includes all the files needed to convert a CEX to DEX, including the latest multiMAN ver 04.04.03 BASE DEX (20120720) and an updated multiMAN ver 04.04.03 BASE (20120720) with the flash functions referenced in the C2D's readme.

Thank you for your reply!!!

but it's also possible with the latest debug release of multiman to launch 3.55 backup on 3.55dex or 4.11dex??

Thanks to you all!

I appreciate all the effort that went into this.

Currently I am still recompiling the kernel so I can use metldrpwn, but since I have the OS on a USB stick it's slow as ****....

One thing that I did ran into was when I have too many devices connected via a non-powered USB hub, Linux won't boot and crashes back into petitboot with no USB support...

Thanks again!!

Oh by the way, for our Linux users, cex2dex.exe will run fine under wine ( at least the GUI comes up nicely ).. I will report back later when I get My METLDR Dump to see if it wrote the DEX dump correctly

Cheers, keep up the good work!

My little experience with CEX to DEX conversion
I just converted my console without formating my hard drive, I used an old cfw "CFW355-OTHEROS++.PUP" instead of "OTHEROS-22GB.PUP"
*Delete VFLASH region 6
*Delete VFLASH region 5
*Create VFLASH region 5
*Create VFLASH region 6
*Install OtherOS bootloader on VFLASH with "Install OtherOS"
*Run "Boot OtherOS"
*Reboot GameOS with "Reboot"
and you are in petitboot without formating your internal HDD
then I dumped the nor flash with memdump_0.01-FINAL, and to be sure I made another dump in petitboot following @kneeandarrow tutorial.
I took the two files and compared them in HxD and they were identical.
then I followed @GraVoX959 0 tutorial on getting "dump_eid0.bin"
after that I converted the NOR file to dex.bin using "CEX2DEX" and "C2D" compared the output file in HxD (both identical)
Then I flashed the new dex.bin in petitboot following @kneeandarrow steps.
(BTW reading and flashing nor in multiman 04.04.03 didn't work for me, MMos don't ask the third question. maybe I used an old update ).
now I'm on 4.11 dex
thanks again to @kneeandarrow and @GraVoX959 0 and andbey0nd and Gunner54
P.S. Don't mind my English.
