i only wanted to look in to this as i cant full complete as i have a slim that has the NOR i think so i never intended to get to the point of really changing things.

just wondering how far could i go with this before i NEED to stop as i have a NOR system?? i would like to get to the point of installing Red Ribbon if i could then i can sit back and wait for a NOR tut

Did you install Red Ribbon RC5 to your PS3 or did you launch "live-otheros" from the petitboot menu ?.

From what I found that error occurs because of this:

insmod: error inserting 'x.ko': -1 Invalid module format Linux That error message is issued because a version mismatch occurs when the Linux kernel module to be inserted into the working kernel was not compiled with the source code that was used to compile the working Linux kernel.

So make sure you got the right Red Ribbon RC5 ISO and that you install it to the PS3 properly.

20- Press "ALT+CTRL+F1", this will take you to Terminal Mode.

and try from there? , from the screenshot you posted, you are running the Terminal Emulator, probably that could be the problem, I remember I had issues running the command from there, I had to switch to Teminal Mode by pressing those keys.

Red Ribbon by default is not configured with the US Keyboard layout. This needs to be changed for anyone who is experiencing problems with their input. Red Ribbon has a tool you can find with the mouse to change the layout, but I forget where it's at or what it's called. There's not much installed in RR so it won't be too hard to find. I hope that fixes your problem.
