I've tried 3.55 and 4.11 DEX and it doesn't work. Somebody can help me?

im sorry to read that you have bricked your PS3 by flashing the CEX back..
dont be sad, get a progskeet and try to bring back live in the good old fat boy :-)

i didnt get the point exactly.. why is the PS3 bricked? You use a debug version of the exit-self ?? that means if you are in service mode you have to change the config so the loader itself do the exit without the exit-self?

and where you find the "debug-loader" ?

maybe u ask other board ppl here if you can borrow a flasher... didnt have one... im searching for it.. no shop in germany sells the right ones.. only NOR-Things..
have to bye elsewhere.. Spain and uk i have found one... will see...

Progskeet's diagrams aren't that great either. The newer NOR model diagrams are crystal clear while older NAND you can't even make out!

I've only looked at the official diagrams and I'm not sure if someone has made better ones.

If I had a flashing device I'd let you borrow it, but I don't as I'm not risking my $600 toy for any reason be it hardware or software. OFW 4 life! :P
I gave up on Progskeet and similar stuff, there is no "clear" documentation as you mentioned, and even the small videos around are not very informative. So If I get the Progskeet and all, the most probable thing is that I would be wasting my time, money and dedication.

The following is a bit off-topic but, I think I'm just gonna make something useful with my CECHE01 (NAND) PS3, since I have a CECH-2501A (NOR) PS3 on OFW 4.11.

I will most probably sell it in parts (BD-Drive, Card Reader module, Power Supply, etc...) since all of them are in good working conditions, the only messed part is the software in it. Then with what I get from it I will buy "another" CECHE01 to continue my research. Yeah I know, the ideal thing would be not messing with DEX-To-CEX again until it has been confirmed, but I just want to complete my guide so other people don't brick in the process.

(If anyone is interested in CECHE01 PS3 parts please, send me a PM with specific information of model, offers, etc, before I put them on eBay)

I will be around even if I don't have a "hacked" PS3 to do testing for the moment, but I will continue to give support in any way I can .

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments, and I'm really happy that my guide have been a success (at least going from CEX-To-DEX).

As soon as I get a working NAND console again I will finish the DEX-To-CEX guide, if someone else doesn't work on one before.

Take care everyone!

SeeYa!

hi,

another question, how do you creat excetly a partition
with Linux.

11- During partitioning you can resize the default /dev/ps3dd1 partition from to just 4GB (4096MB), It will speed up installation/formatting (all will take less than 5 mins)

@CaptainCPS-X :

Flawless guide, had some hiccups but nothing a little research didn't fix. Thanks to you, I now have a working DEX console. Thanks much in advance, and so sorry about hearing your system brick like that. I tried the method that "jennys" suggested and instead of using lv2diag_exit.self, i edited the "advanced.cfg" and made it to where the system exits out of service mode without using the "lv2diag_exit.self". Just wish you were made aware of it before you bricked.

Dude, your PS3 system bricking did not happen in vein, those of us that have a NAND flash thank you profusely for helping us make the conversion.

Once more, thank you very much @CaptainCPS-X !!! you are a hero and a legend in my mind forever (unless someone claims that you stole their methods or whatever else drama people like to start, and I'm pretty sure you asked permission before you made the guide, you never have been fake as far as I could read.)

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, love the books.

Where capt. says he messed up is when he went to take the PS3 out of service mode and use the lv2diag.self from the DEX once his ps3 was re-flashed to CEX.

He was successful, but the wrong lv2diag.self caused the brick. One little mistake can ruin your PS3, so follow ALL STEPS ONE BY ONE!
