Just wondering what is the best ps3 model to get. I've heard some people saying that the 60gb cecha01 is actually the best because of the capabilities. but i need suggestions Thanks

Easily the CECHA01 PS3 (or CECHA00 for the Japanese version) is the best ever made. It can play PS2 games with full hardware, has 2 extra USB ports, card readers and with that chrome finish it just looks amazing.

In fact, that PS3 is quite possibly the best console ever made when you take into account the libraries of the PS1, PS2 and PS3 and combine them into one sexy box with all the extras.

A CECHA01 PS3 and a Cobra dongle running mmCM is heavenly not only for playing backups but for having EVERYTHING region-free.

For reliability though it's newer slims as they run cooler etc. but I personally *touch wood* have never had a problem with my CECHA01.

yep, doesnt get any better than a cecha01 and a cobra. i was lucky enough to find one that was still on 3.15 fw for $40!!! only thing wrong with it was a broken blue ray lens. cobra solved that with the 100% diskless compatibility. now i just use my 160gb p01 ps3 to rip all my games. those are the best by far.

is it true the checha01 are more prone to bricks and just general hardware failure compared to the slims or did i make that up in my head?

you couldn't have said it better.

i got the 20 gig that didn't come with wireless capabilities or the card readers, but it's still backwards compatible with 4 usbs. it still feels like one of the best consoles ever, and cobra is the icing on the cake.

As for reliability, mine has been great. I bought it used at Gamestop and ripped it open. I replaced the thermal paste with Arctic MX-4, replaced ALL the thermal pads with new 10x better ones, swapped the power supply with a more effiecent and cooler unit, swapped the 15 blade fan for a 19 blade version, disabled the sensor for the blu-ray drive, wired a triple throw middle off switch to the blu-ray drive's eject motor, and threw in a 500GB hybrid hard drive.

With all of that, I can now play PS3 games, ANY region PS1/PS2 games, and backup copies of PS1/PS2.

As a bonus, my PS3 never even gets very warm, let alone hot, and it's super quick! Love my pink dualshock3 as well :P

Hello Inali, I also have a 60gb model but the cechc model, and I'm going to mostly do the same job as you did with yours. Concerning the thermal pads I'm looking in e-bay and I don't know what to buy, how thick should they be because they range from 0.3 to 0.5 mm and what does "10x better ones" mean?
