I think that you can go to fsm with e3 cardreader. I entered it with e3 while I was trying to remarry bddrive

OK. I'm risking it all and trying out this procedure. I hope some people can help me with my current problem...

PS3 Model CECHE 80GB.

Currently at Step 8-3:
"/tmp/petitboot/mnt/sda1/create_hdd_region.sh" does not work. However, it seems mine is at ""/tmp/petitboot/mnt/sdd1/create_hdd_region.sh" and it seems to work....

On Step 8-9, it doesn't ask me for any login.....

Now on Step 8-10, it seems to work, until the installer asks me where to put Red Ribbon Linux, and there's only one choice, it's actually the MicroSD card reader I'm using as the USB drive. And the PS3 hard drive is nowhere to be seen.

Now looking at the file manager, I see the 80GB PS3 Hard Disk, however, trying to mount it results in the following error message :

Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on dev/ps3db, missing codepage or helper program, or other error...... (etc etc)

My experience for Linux is near zero so any help would be greatly appreciated....

Your PS3 HD should be ps3dd1, not ps3db.

When you ran the create_hdd_region.sh script, what was the output?

Did you see text with "new region" at the bottom or did it say "xxxxx -8"?

Did you reboot after running the create_hdd_region script?

My hdd was also sdd1 and I did what you did. then I also just saw my usb drive and no option for hdd.
my problem was I had missed
step 1
11- Choose "Restore PS3 System".

don´t know how I missed that...I was wondering when I was going to format,lol.
Have you formatted your hdd yet?

anyway this was a great guide. I´ve successfully flashed to DEX and now on 4.11 DEX.
Being a noobie I was very scared but if you follow this guide to the letter everything should go OK.
My biggest problem was making out the letters in Red Ribbon. they were almost unreadable.

BTW how do you flash it with Multiman? I can't find this option in Multiman 4.04.

Yes the ps3should format an external drive and only 4games at a time on it iv read, atleast the tutorial on how to play backups says that

for 3.60+ games use the bdemu
for old games downgrade to 3.55 dex peek&poke and use multiman for games
