Would there be any issues with doing this procedure on a 20GB PS3?

For NOR users i would say 3 since you don't need linux anymore.Right now this is as easy as it gets.
Steps: 1. dump your NOR flash with memdump 2. Use the CEX to DEX program and load your NOR dump click on extract metldr 59kb file. 3. use naehrwert guide and code to get your rootkey (metldr dump) without linux. You need your metldr file you extracted for this step. 4. After you get your metldr dump from previous step you load up CEX to DEX program. load your NOR flash file then Load up your metldr dump click on CEX to DEX conversion. If the program logs shows checks as passed use the newly created file and name it DEXFLASH. 5. Get multiman latest version and use gravox guide last steps to flash your PS3. Guide link http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?p=395089 Credit to GraVoX959 6 Congratulations you converted to DEX now install the 3.55 DEX FW. I didn't go into much detail since there are awesome guides already made for CEX to DEX conversions. Last edited by spectlze; 07-24-2012 at 12:05 AM. |

I was looking at this part of the tut
Code:
- Installed MFW 3.55 DEX (With Peek & Poke enabled) - Used "Factory Service Mode Tool v2" to put my console in FSM. - A file was automatically created specifically for DEX to get out of FSM, called "Lv2diag_exit.self" - I copied my old NAND flash dump "Backuprflash.bin" to my USB device and renamed it to "rflash.bin" - Copied "JaiCrab Preloader Advance v3.1" files (Lv2diag.self, advance.cfg) to restore "rflash.bin" to my NAND. - Connected the USB device to my PS3 turned it ON - Everything went fine, I was on CEX now, the system started was in FSM, so I turned it off. - I connected my USB device to my PC and deleted "JaiCrab Preloader Advance" files (Lv2diag.self, advance.cfg) -Renamed the "Lv2diag_exit.self" specifically for DEX to "Lv2diag.self" to exit factory mode. -Connected the USB device to my PS3 and turned it ON. - PS3 supposedly went out of FSM based on the generated "factory.txt" log file, but then I got a Blinking Red Light. - PS3 got bricked "apparently" by using the wrong "Lv2diag.self" to exit FSM, I was supposed to use the one for CEX, not DEX. I had a similar problem with my nor ps3, but I used linux to flash from dex to cex then I shut down linux and petitboot booted but when I shut down ps3 I had same brick as you. To fix: use a hardware flasher to install the dexflash onto the console, then try the steps you wrote above again but be sure to install cex firmware before exiting service mode. |
