this tut only works when you install linux..

eEID0 ---> THATS NOT THE ROOT KEY!!!!!

you need linux to "extract" the root key from metldr (which will be extracted from the flash directly)...

read the tutorial, the thread and follow step by step...
if not you HIGHLY RISK a BRICK..

I followed this Guide 100%.
Everything worked fine and everything worked like the guide describe it.

The only thing i got confused was on installing Red Ribbon.
You should specify this part more.

I am a completly noob on linux but i was able to do it :-D
Just used my Brain xD

first of all your guide is pretty well explained and created.

it is for people with brains even if they have like me some lime in their brains because of their age (i am in the mid fourties).

mindbowling english but hey it isn´t my native language.




i followed your guide step by step up to
STEP 11 : RE-FLASHING DEX WITH JAICRAB PRELOADER ADVANCE v3.1

there i stop because i am afraid and have not balls of steel

before i go the last step i have some questions.

- can i use my original preloader dumps with progskeet in the case something is going wrong and the console is bricked ?

- if yes, is there a guide how to use the preloader dumps with progskeet ?

- could your or friendly dev could have a look over my 256mb metldrpwned dumps (checha00 & chechh04) in case you or the friendly dev have enough bandwith to download them ?

Hello,

First of all I have successfully converted my NAND Fat PS3 to DEX using this tutorial. THANK YOU CaptainCPS-X! I had a few problems with step 8, like partitioning and I had to use rebellionist lines. Apart from that, all went well.

But instead of installing OFW 4.11 DEX, I have installed Rogero 3.55 DEX with Peek & Poke [downgrader built-in].

I have also backup all NAND, eid0 and meltdr dumps in a save location.

I have few questions since there is Special PUP's for DEX conversion users released:

1. With "PS3 DEX to CEX Switcher PUP", I could installed Rebug 3.55.2 and play all backup games below 3.55 + reactpsn + ps3usercheat? Play blu-ray?
2. With "PS3 CEX to DEX Switcher PUP", I could install OFW 4.11 or 4.20 DEX and play 3.56+ backups via bdemu on USB HDD? Play all retail original disc game?

Am I correct with this steps below?

Example : So If I want to go from OFW 4.11 or 4.20 DEX to Rebug 3.55.2 CEX

Nice tutorial but i have a problem my usb keyboard doesn't work in petitboot, any idea why?

As soon as I can I will update my CEX-to-DEX guide with new shorter methods using recent tools, explaining any required downgrade, etc.

It will make the process very short and as far as I understand, you don't have to mess with Linux or wipe out your internal HDD, so its a really good advancement =).

Maybe around next week I will work on the confirmed guide, my new PS3 hasn't arrived yet, but as soon as I get my hands on it, I will start working on the revised guide. Hopefully, I will be able to make the DEX-to-CEX guide once and for all LOL.

Btw, I don't make the guide now, because I don't wanna make assumptions of any procedure, I wanna make sure by trying it myself first, so I don't lead anyone to a brick.
