Alright, I know there's a myriad of threads about the Waninkoko brick a while back with the first CFW that the hacker released. I am one of those unlucky morons. The PS3 I have is a 60 GB backwards compatible one: CECHA01.

I'm sort stuck here as to what to do. My first thought was to get the solderless progskeet with the 360 clip, but there's also the E3 flasher. I don't mind any work so much, but I'd rather not risk anything by getting a board that needs to have wires soldered.

Basically I need to know is, which one should I go with, the E3 flasher or the progskeet? I do recall a while back that for fixing the Waninkoko brick, you need a flow rebuilder, hex editor, the bricked PS3 and another one, and etc. I don't know if this holds true now, but if someone could point me into the direction of a guide as well, that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, as a side note, I learned that despite the fact there is no power to the USB devices on this brick, there is a signal. I plugged in an external hard drive with the Y USB connector that has one USB for power and the other for both power and data. I plugged the power USB plug into my Nintendo Wii, and plugged the data USB plug into the PS3. With the PS3 off, I would get a solid green light on my USB drive, and it would flicker orange twice every time I try to power on the PS3 as it goes through its cycle of lights before going to the blinking red light.

That doesn't really help. I've seen that through a Google search hundreds of times. As a matter of fact, it's the first thing that comes up when searching "Waninkoko brick fix."

To reiterate:

E3 Flasher or Progskeet for this situation? (solderless)

Guide for using either of these either of these to fix a Waninkoko CFW brick?

Niether of them are going to be solderless! you are using a nand console and therefore the chips that were designed to be solderless with NOR consoles will not be for you. no matter which option you choose. Progskeet e3 or infectus will all require you to solder. if you wish to fix the brick it's a must. either that or send it to someone with the knowledge and skill to do so for you.

I never said I didn't have the knowledge or skill, I just said I'd rather not bother with it, because it it's very easy to damage them. I've got a very cheap soldering iron with an oxidized tip.

Also, I thought that the ProgSkeet Crystal Blue Edition was completely solderless with a clip of some kind...

As far as I'm aware the chip was only solderless with an NOR console. I didn't say you didn't have the skill. I said if you wish to fix it soldering is a must either that or send to someone with the knowledge and skill to do so for you.

You can get a clip TSOP48 clip from 360-clip.com to do it solderless, and that works with the Progskeet for NAND as you say (TSOP56 is for NOR models).

I'm gonna order just a Progskeet and solder the PS3 side in the mean time (I like to solder).


I've also gotta get my head around fixing a NAND with a missing dtbimage.bin file (5:30AM and a couple grams of Amnesia Haze = not the time to mess with PS3).. If anyone know's the handiest solution, I'm all ears!

@Hells Guardian : Yes that's what it's for.

Although if you can find someone who would solder it in, you can dual-boot etc (once it's fixed) without spending money on a 2nd clip (there are 2 TSOP48s in NAND PS3's & only one TSOP56 in NOR models).

I'm likely going to steal Marcan42/F0F's idea and do it like this (LINK) because I have tonnes of 360's and PS3's I'll be using it on.

Oh I wasn't accusing you or anything, I was just making clear the fact that I don't want to solder it, not that I can't.

I like soldering too, but I'd rather not doing with something that expensive


Edit: I'll likely go ProgSkeet then. I'll get one next month, and hopefully I can get things going, but I still need a guide on how to actually use it. Does the ProgSkeet come with instructions?
