@Crazy-S
Nope - there isn't a PSgrade/PSFreedom-modded Samsung Galaxy S II recovery image - @pete_uk asked the same question at PS3Crunch, also cheekily known as BlueCuboidDildoCrunch:

Nope - there isn't a PSgrade/PSFreedom-modded Motorola Droid II recovery image - read here for more information - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788953

ROFPMSL!

I just mentioned that because I remember someone else ask that question - that's all (that and it'd reassure you that you're not alone in terms of not having a PSgrade-compliant Android phone.

Another method you could look at is a PSgrade-compliant programmable development board with a USB-male port. There's quite a lot of them, and you can find them cheap if you look around.

Just going to be a complete n00b and ask, but does this work on any firmware? I'm on 4.20 and my PS3 is the fat CECHA 60GB.

Plus all I have is a Sony Xperia X10... What exactly is a "PSgrade-compliant programmable development"...? Are you referring to all of these? http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Talk:...PSgrade_Dongle

I thought none of those worked anymore on new firmwares?

Thanks.

The TI-84 is a calculator that can be reprogrammed to use as such - and as for "development boards", they're merely just chips with a programmable/reflashable flash memory that you can use to write onto and read from in accordance to what you want that said board with - for example, if you want a development board to act as a FSM jig, you would then get the hex file for that said board to flash onto the respective board so then from there, you can then use it as a FSM jig by merely inserting it into your PS3 like an PSgrade dongle, and the good thing with those are that a), obsolescence issues are rare (correct at time of writing), and b), they're FAR cheaper to acquire than an ACTUAL FSM jig.

Here's a list of them - http://ps3.dashhacks.com/downloads/psgrade-usb-boards

Now as for accessing FSM on post-3.55 firmware versions, if you do access FSM on firmware versions PAST 3.55, then you will not be able to get out of FSM from there unless you use a hardware flasher - READ HERE: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=36447

Lastly, you're out of luck if you're going to use a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 as an FSM device as there's no FSM-modded recovery image for the phone.

Yes basically (at the PS3DevWiki page), but however, they can't be used as an FSM jig on newer (post-3.55) firmwares.

Thank you for not completely ****ting on me for asking such n00b questions. So basically, since I'm on 4.20 I can use any of those to get into Service mode, but past that I can't do anything? You said I cant get OUT of it without hardware flashing. Can I still software downgrade and still be stuck in Service mode? Or will I simply stay stuck in Service mode on 4.20?

I have an E3 Card Reader somewhere in my house I used back when I was messing with 3.21/3.15/3.55. Would it do me no good?

1. Yes you can use any PSgrade-compliant device to ENTER INTO FACTORY/SERVICE MODE, BUT YOU CANNOT GET OUT OF IT IF YOUR CONSOLE HAS ANY INSTALLED FIRMWARE VERSION ABOVE 3.55 - E.G. 3.56, 3.60 ET CETERA - IN SHORT, YOU'LL END UP GETTING STUCK IN FACTORY/SERVICE MODE PERMANENTLY UNLESS YOU HAVE A HARDWARE FLASHER AT HAND, AND THE E3 CARD READER THAT YOU HAVE WILL OBVIOUSLY BE OF NO USE SO DON'T EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO ENTER INTO FACTORY/SERVICE MODE WITH IT.

2. The only way in which you can downgrade is via the hardware-flasher-based methods via the use of a Teensy, Progskeet or a E3 Flasher, providing that the PS3 you have was shipped with 3.55 or lower OR your PS3 has been shipped with a post-3.55 firmware, but you can downgrade to 3.55 or lower (use MinVerChk here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...eck-tool-1238/), but based on your comment, I assume you ALREADY have a downgradable console, so hopefully, you shouldn't have any issues downgrading the console if you had to go down that route.

Excuse the capitals in the first paragraph, but I CANNOT stress the first paragraph enough.

No offense, but you still didn't answer my question >_<

The point of service mode is to be able to downgrade firmware, right? So if service mode lets us downgrade, and you need to be on 3.55 to get OUT of service mode, why cant we just use Service mode to downgrade to 3.55 and then leave it? Why would we need a hardware flasher for Service mode? I dont get it...
