Hi, I'm new to this website. I read somewhere on the forum that you can play ps2 iso only if you have swapmagic, I dont mind buying swapmagic but is there other way to go about playing ps2 iso? besides paying for swapmagic?

I currently have a 40gb ps3 version 4.20

if anyone can help I appreciate it.

You can play PS2 iso's via a Cobra dongle...but on the PS3 you have (a 40gb) it will be a bit buggy as you have zero PS2 hardware...

No bro, sorry. A Cobra dongle won't cost you that much though...you'll also be able to play region-free PS1 games and even some PSP games on your PS3 with it as well...it's worth the price.

okay cool thx, what would you recommend is easier to use? swapmagic or cobra dongle?

I have both and whilst swapmagic is ok...the Cobra dongle makes life so much easier, plus you get to use the internal HDD.

sorry was meaning to get back to you sorry about the newbie questions just want to make sure I do it right, but I just want to ask you said the older model dont work as well right? so if I get the newest ps3 slim ones with cobra dongle can that play even japanese games ps2/ps3 games too?

You know you will have to downgrade to 3.55? Since you are on 4.20, you will need a hardware flasher to downgrade.

Cobra USB dongle will only work on a jailbroken PS3.
