And once again there's no point of trying this, a PS3 cannot read the data from another's ps3 HDD, and there is no workaround. Period.
And you won't find a tutorial since there's none, since it's not possible. At best you'll get nothing, and at worst you'll lose the data forever if you try something like this.

EDIT : Also xRegistry.sys doesn't contain anything about HDD encryption, it's all in the EID.
at least someone is talking sense ,but will they listen nope cos they think they know better

I think that video is about having more than one hdd for one ps3.

So say if someone had two 120gb hdds and ran out of space to install games on one hdd, instead of buying a new larger hdd they can use the 2nd 120gb hdd and format it to use on their ps3.

Normally when you add a new hdd to a ps3 it will ask you to format it, but if both hdds have already been formatted by the same ps3, you can swap between each of them whenever and how many times you like.

So yeah you can swap hdds in a ps3, provided they were both formatted by that single ps3. If it was formatted by another ps3, it will not work and ask you to format. So atm there is no way to retrieve data from a broken ps3.

Maybe im wrong but if we get the "per console key" for this particular ps3 by for instance using a euhh spare 40gig and formating it, then get the key?

Then use thjiws key for decrypting the other hdd?

Guys, please read this. There is something I haven't told you, I wasn't hiding it, I have just told this story so many times I'm kinda sick of telling it.

My PS3 had graphical issues for a few years. At the end of June, my family and I were preparing for a two week trip to Daytona Beach, Florida. I thought I would use this opportunity to send it in to gophermods to see if they could fix it. I believe they did this reflow thing. When they were done, they sent me this e-mail...

Unfortunately after working on your console, our team and I were unable to
get the console to function properly. It falls into a small category of the
5-10% of Playstations that are not repairable due to the fact console's
initial heat damage was too extreme to be repairable by any method.
Furthermore, your console has one of the processors that is notorious for
developing these type of issues. The 1GB processor is the current GPU RSX on
your motherboard. We've seen over the years, that every console that is
irreparable with this type of problem, typically has the 1GB processor.

Why was it not repairable?

We were able to resolve the blinking red light/yellow light issue with your
console. However a second more serious problem was looming with the RSX
(Graphic Processing Unit). Generally speaking, when these consoles do fail,
this general hardware failure does catastrophic damage to the RSX chip and
unfortunately, it is evident here that the RSX is dead. Currently, the
screen either will show no video or will display serious graphic
distortions.

Such a failure is a sign that the problematic area is not a bad lead-free
solder joints on the BGAs that integrate the RSX processor onto the
motherboard. However, it is a sign that the actual GPU RSX processor is
dead. As the console age, the probability of the GPU RSX processor failing,
increases considerably. Over the years we have been in business, we've gone
from never seeing this issue, to now seeing it at least in 5-10% of all
consoles.
