I am having a nightmare situation,

my ps3 is phat 256mb nand based w/ 3.55 installed (interchanged between mfw/rogero 3.4 and original)

I cannot format/updated the firmware in recovery mode, I get a 8002f271 error which i think is caused by my earlier attempts to install otheros++, also I had played around with l2 patcher application (let me change to PL3 , syscall 36 etc)
and something called debug station.
the hard drive is fine. and I boot into a blue screen,

if I try psgrade dongle, I can format the drive in XMB but cannot complete the fw update (100% then error) also I cannot downgrade with l2diag.self and pup in the usb drive.

what other solutions do i have?

ok finally a result,
I have managed to "downgrade " onto 3.55 ofw and rogero 3.4 cfw (3.55 spoofed to 4.21)

lost BD playback.

however cannot go any lower, getting different errors. could be bd related as i cannot use remarry from ps3 wiki

it seems you are about to brick your ps3....

search for qa flags.. this will help you with downgrading..

for BD.. hm... search for it here its something with the downgrade but i dont know if it is fixable..

dont play with things if you dont know what could happen...

update, I downgraded to 2.30 by QA flagging from 3.55 - 3.15 - 2.30

still no luck trying to get blu ray working, I get prohibited message, I though 2.30 fw would fix BLU RAY playback?.
2.30 does not have recovery mode but i tried a quick format also.

i ran the re marry procedure, seemed to work, but i tried my disc and still came up with prohibited/ 8002996 error

Try going to the recovery menu and do option 2. Or option 3. if 2. doesn't fix it.

try an older BD-Movie and post if it worked... have heard something that newer BDs dont work on CFWs 3.55 but not sure..

tried the old casino royale disc in FSM,

no luck
I tried green hornet blu ray, the BDMV icon changed to the film but it was coming up has prohibited, I realized later the parental settings were not right. will try again
