2: metldr (no file extension) ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* 2: Of course you can QA flag your PS3. What reason is there for you not to be able to? 3: FSM downgrade: No idea, never bothered with downgrading before this, and QA flagging works imo faster and better... |

We may need FSM if the worse happens during DEX to CEX - i.e a brick. The ONLY known way to repair a brick is FSM via a jig, and what I'm wary of is flashing CEX firmware from FSM, rather than the recommended DEX firmware. I guess just grab the 3.41 DEX pup just to be sure.

its not a new method.. have figured it out at the day naehrwert has posted his little goodie ;-) see here
but as mentioned by many users here and in other forums... using FSM in the process is high risk for bricking... i bricked mine (its a NAND one), and i got a JIG (AT90USBKey with PSGradehex programmed) but no way to awake it... have to use hardware-flasher..

I think the NAND's don't like the multiman method. I believe NOR owners should be safe as long as they follow the instructions in this thread.

my NAND will NOT be used for this testing things (which can lead into bricks) anymore.. i learned form that ;-)
just searching a used NOR-Slim and will get an E3... then i will be with you on the test road again ;-) the MM method is the safest way i know for NORs.. the real safest way is having a hardware-flasher to correct things that always could happen :-)

Yeah, I couldn't get MM to work with the EID0 stuff, so I made a guide (based on this) which substitutes Jailcrab's Preloader. I just converted my NAND-based CECHG01 to DEX, so it should work for any NAND user. I basically followed JayDee78's guide to the letter, except the MM stuff. Here you go, and play safe.

i bricked mine without the linux thing but with using preloader and FSM.... please point out the risks of bricks... even on the way cex2dex or dex2cex.. it seems the NANDs behave different.. (may depends on the mainboard-version and which NANDs are used... )

Can someone now make a tutorial video out of this since it doesn't require linux.
