I have succesfully converted my console and downgraded to 3.55 and then back to 4.11. i can honestly say the tut by captain is perfect and the only places that i had trouble with the conversion is why i didnt read the tut carefully enough..

Hi guys just a couple of questions:
1) if i convert to Dex can I still play BD MOVIES?
2) is it true that old fat ps3's are more likely to get YLOD once converted?

Meanwhile i upgraded to 4.20 DEX to see if it was something to do with 4.11 but it keeps giving the same error. I found a pup called 4.20 downgrader but it's just 9Mb and it's not recognised. I can play backups following the tutorial posted in the forum.

I got error message also and then reboot ps3 and then it worked, if not then try rogero firmware.

I had already tryed that method and it doesn't work. The only pup it accepts now is the 4.20, any pup from a lower firmware gives the "Data is corrupt" error

make sure to turn your ps3 off put usb in and when you turn ps3 on go straight to system update and update via media device.. if you try to install the 3.55 pup that wasn't made for downgrading then try installing the 3.55downgrade pup all in the same go it wont let you install the 3.55 downgrade pup, if that doesn't work, only think i could suggest is that you re download 4.20 pup from dev wiki flash that on then try to run the 3.55 downgrade pup via xmb right away, if it doesn't work first time turn off ps3 try again.. still doesn't work try through the recovery menu.. still no go re download and try it all again. don't have any other ideas

I sucessfully went from 3.55 KMEAW CEX -> 3.55 DEX -> 4.11 DEX.

I used JayDee's method, so I didn't have to install linux once

I'm going to be brave and try and flash my NOR CEX dump back via multiman to experiment. I have my psgrade blackcat USB service mode jig ready just in case...

I managed to downgrade, don't know exactly how, i just insisted and it eventually accepted the dex 3.55 downgrade PUP. BACK ON 3.55 :D

I successfully did my cech-2001a. I also used @JayDee78 's guide.

It was very easy. You just need to know how to read and follow directions. Some knowledge around a Windows PC, helps too.
