That's the point, the media industry is trying, and successfully I might add, to convince judges that IP addresses are just as solid pieces of evidence as fingerprints. If the IP belongs to you at the time it's "proof" you did it!
Nevermind the owner is an 80 year old woman who only uses it to skype to their kid child and grandchild and doesnt even know how to open anything else. Or that you are just the bill payer and it was your 12 yo kid who did it Or as said, someone hack/cloned your IP address. It all sounds so silly to us, but the judges are led to believe IP addresses are legitimate to use as evidence! So imagine the FBI knocking down your door chargin you for hacking the PS3 when the person is an Xbox fanboy :P But the IP fits so they must have done it

Sony is not going to purchase anyone anymore if you don t intend to give bad reputation to the corporation. The only thing they might do if you release sensitive infos will be to shut down the link and source.
The internet coffee and others public place are not necessary the best to post, but it s even not really important since you ll not get sued from Sony. The only thing i can think really sensitive will be about news ps3 models or ps vita, and even so. The scene also become much better in terms of mature, keys have been release and nearly no one wanted to have the credits for them. When we compare to the 3.55 keys case, it s a huge difference, There are much less space for virtual fame and much more for real passionate devs and less misinformation. Of course there are still people who need to show theirs fancy feather but that is probably related to everyone and human nature. There are also money aspect from somes teams but it was sadly from the start. There are still lot of users not welling to do anything and just ask over and over but much less than before. More than the news games who have been fixed, the good news for me it s a new era. |

I don't think an internet coffee is the best idea really. The usually have cameras recording. So, your face will be recorded for Sony to see.
The open wifi alternative is much better. Just drive a couple of miles away from where you live and use any wifi that you can connect from inside your vehicle. You can change your mac address or buy a wifi dongle and then dispose it. As you wish. Use a tor network with a couple of extra proxies of your choice just to be sure (in case tor was compromised). Release the info. Drive back home. Restore mac address and delete the evidence if you wish. It's not that difficult to be completely anonymous these days. If Sony wants to find you it will need to contact every proxy you used in the middle and then track you to the open wifi. Where they will find nobody. Even tracking you down up to the open wifi is almost impossible. |

But if you didnt and someone really did hack into your connection, which apparently is very easy from what I've read, just a little time consuming, then apparently all of a sudden they claim hacking is impossible, you are still responsible :P The laws are changing where you are guilty until proven innocent. But then that rant is a completely different topic. IF you dont know jsut read up on Anonymous, Occupy protests etc and watch The American Dream for a fun little video which gives you part of the real problems The American Dream Film-Full Length - YouTube

at home, you are responsible when you allow someone access. unauthorised access, whether its open or not is not your responsibility. for it to work, securing the connection must be a legal obligation and not an option
