Maybe devs can use newer emu files from 3.6x frimware (mc_iso_spu_module.self , me_iso_for_ps2emu.self , sv_iso_for_ps2emu.self) decrypted and encrypted with 3.55 keys.

Of course sony knew, the only reason sony took it out was because they wanted people to buy the hd collections and digital downloads from the store!, i hope in the future the wii u gets a simular hack as they have decided to lock out gc backward compatibility on thier new wii u console! As for this feature hopefully this gets integrated into multiman just like the ps1 emulator was in the past, it has the same compatibility as pcsx2 on the pc which is just as bad.

Err, Factory/Service mode is exactly what the name implies. It is not there for corporate reasons, it is there to aid repairing bricked consoles or otherwise testing new consoles at the factory.
