Hi, first and foremost thank you so much for this easy to use tutorial!! I just joined today and have PS3 slim model CECH-2501a. I'm not sure if this has been dealt with, if so I apologize in advance. That being said, I checked the min downgrade checker and my system said 3.5 or above. So when I tried following the first step, running the update through recovery menu an error popped up saying "data is corrupt." If someone could please advise as to what this means or what to do, I'd really appreciate it. THanks again!

What FW are you currently on?
If you are on a FW higher then 3.55 you'll need a flasher to downgrade first.

Sounds like either you're on FW 3.56+ or something went wrong when you downloaded the pup

I am on FW 4.21, I was unaware of the "flasher" as it wasn't in the tutorial. How do I go about downgrading? Thanks for your prompt reply.

^^^^^^ love posts like that. Blatant statement of the obvious, likely to be taken poorly. Damnedest thing, common sense not so common anymore.

So I found a ps3 today in the trash because the power connector came loose, I fixed the console and tried installing the firmware and did part 2, it said it was the same version but there are no extra icons on my "games" bar as suggested in Part 3. I have a fat 40GB PS3 and it was 3.55 when I got it.

Now mind you I just got this so still confused over it, but I don't have those icons...what should I do? Thank you.

I flashed the version of kmeaw that was lined on the 3.55 FAQ (I downloaded using the mediafire link) and I don't have a disc inside.
