Smile Easy Guide CEX-DEX no Linux/Downgrading

Please note ps3 must be on 3.55 before starting, and i take no responsibility if anything goes wrong, please read the guide over a few times and ensure that you know what you are doing this is not for complete noobs, that said if you follow this guide you will be fine

THIS IS ONLY FOR NOR CONSOLES, DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU HAVE A NAND
also please de hash you console before starting this guide (if you have downgraded previously) to prevent problems later on
This can be done by using factory service mode or using qa flag (google is your friend)
- Thanks to Zaphod for pointing this out

UPDATE -DE HASH INFO PLEASE READ

Ok the dehashing is causing alot of confusion, so I did some more research and it appears that Syscon values change as you upgrade to higher than 3.56 and when you downgrade back these values remain for both CEX and DEX, as these are not the correct values for the firmware (3.55) as the value of the higher firmware remains they cause bricks, that's why "no hash check" firmwares are used during downgrading as it skips Syscon checks. So if you never downgraded on OFW and remain on 3.55, dehashing is not needed and makes no difference as the Syscon values are correct and cannot be dehashed. However going from DEX back to CEX requires using a "no hash check" CEX firmware where Syscon values are overlooked to allow the firmware to boot even though there not correct. Only then is Dehashing needed when back on CEX from DEX to make the Syscon values correct for 3.55 CEX. So if you have never downgraded and want to go to dex, you don't need to dehash and it won't make any difference because you have a console with correct syscons.
dehashing is only useful and needed when downgrading, as it always requires a firmware that skips Syscon checks also known as "no hash check firmwares". As after a downgrade say from 4.20 using e3 flasher to 3.55 the 4.20 Syscon remains even when on 3.55 using a firmware skips these checks, however to install any firmware the Syscon need to be reset and not just skipped this is known as "dehashing". Also needed when going from DEX back to CEX

Also this is how we are able to downgrade from 4.20DEX -3.55DEX as the system overlooks the Syscon acting like a bypass This is why people are getting bricks when returning to Cex as they are using a Cex firmware with hash checks. This is why when going back to dex it must be from 3.55 Dex not (4.xx) and by using a firmware without checks "nocheck" or such as the E3 one or rogero V3 - One that overlooks/bypasses syscon. This will boot back into XBM- Cex mode and then the syscon will need to be dehashed using qa flag/Refsm - as this actually resets the flag not just bypassing it allowing you to install normal custom firmwares thereafter

By popular demand here is how to "De-Hash" - Please back up any important files saves ect, as the hdd gets formatted"

1. Download FactoryServiceMode-v0.2.rar
2. Download OFW 3.55
3. Download Lvl2diag.self (1)
4 Download Lvl2 Diag.self (2) - Download After

.Install and run factory service mode tool v2.0, Ps3 will beep and restart
.Place the 3.55 update in the root of your usb call it "PS3UPDAT.PUP"
.place Lvl2Diag.self (1) in root of usb
.Place usb on the furthest right port of ps3
.Allow for update to complete (noting will appear on screen) 10/20 minutes USB/HDD light will flicker.

IMPORTANT STEP - thanks to playerkp420 to pointing this out, after the update is complete the ps3 will shut down by itself, after it does remove the usb and place it in your pc and check the log file for success at the end and then reinsert the usb to the ps3 and allow the update to continue again. So essentially you update twice in FSM (factory service mode)

.Ps3 will shutdown when done again, at this point remove the usb and place it in your pc and check the log file for success at the end, after this delete the 3.55 update and lvl2diag.self file.
.Now Download the Lvl2Diag.self (2) and place in root- Remove usb, place in ps3,turn on ps3. It will reboot shortly by itself, Remove usb after automatic reboot.

Thats it Now its De hashed, NOTE NOT REQUIRED IF NEVER DOWNGRADED ACCORDING TO DEV WIKI
Custom Firmware will need to be reinstalled to continue with this tutorial, please be careful when updating so that you dont go to 3.56+

Once you have read the above and have a dehashed or have a ps3 on 3.55 (thats never been downgraded) Nor Console you may proceed
Please note if you have never downgraded do not worry about de-hashing

1.Download the three files below
. Memdump v 1.01
. eid_root_key
.Multiman or MMOS anything above 4.0.3 will work (Link Updated - with mode to allow flashing)

1.Extract the 3 pkgs and place them in the root of your usb, remove the usb from your computer and install the .pkg files

2.Run Memdump v 1.01 use the option to "Dump Flash Storage"-Usb on side closer to blu ray player (last usb port)
3.Remove all Usb devices from the ps3

4. Run eEID_RKDumper next should give a black screen and 5-10 seconds later beep and shut down by it self.
5. Now reboot the ps3 and open multiman file manager and put your usb back in the ps3 and navigate to /dev_hdd0/tmp/eid_root_key and copy this file to the root of your usb.
5. Now you have all files from your ps3, i suggest you backup the files at least in two different places
6.your usb should have two files eid_root_key and flash_stor_35500.bin. Copy both to your desktop.

7. download Cex2Dex.exe and place it on your desktop load the flash_stor_35500.bin for the top and rename eid_root_key to dump and load that for the bottom, next click on cex to dex.

8. If all went to plan then it will ask you to save your converted flash as my-DEX-flash.EID0.NORBIN
9. place that file on your usb (I suggest removing other files to avoid accidental flash) so you have my-DEX-flash.EID0.NORBIN on the usb.
10.Open multiman file manager and locate the my-DEX-flash.EID0.NORBIN on your usb and click it it will go through 3 pages of verification just press x on each page
11. Reboot ps3, and you will be able to install any Dex Firmware
Credit to all the Devs that have worked hard coding these applications all I did was put them together in a easy guide

thx for this...but

its another guide without the needed warnings for noobs...

also you forgot one really important thing:
dehash your CFW before you begin cex2dex !!!!!

This is for safety and for avoiding bricks later if you wanna go back dex2cex....

and MM is not the safest thing if you got a NAND-PS3.. for NOR it seems to work fine...

search for the post from hellsing according this... he collected all important in one thread....
