What top people? Without some sort of valid proof I am inclined not to take the theory as fact. You see I had a 3.15 PS3 up until around 4 months ago when I finally went to the latest OFW and lost Linux. I'm sorry, but just because it some "[unnamed] insider" said it was so and adding it up "1+1" makes complete sense to me I would need to see some sort of evidence that presents fact and not speculation based on trusted sources (as I do not know them they aren't trusted to me).

I just got caught claiming something without the proof to back it up and was nailed to the door, but that is okay as I don't treat people that way. If/when you do have the time to find that proof please either post it here or PM me. Like I said I kept 3.15 for a very long time and kept up on all the developments with the court case and CFW, but no place I have read had any sort of hard evidence why Sony really took down OtherOS. I've even emailed them for responses in the past and they claim it was due to security purposes.

Maybe not Sony per se, but games developers/publishers. How about the online pass? Why can't someone buy used or a friend lend a game? Cause of $$$ and greed. I feel in this instance that the games industry is showing its greed and therefore the whiplash is somehow justified

As i said before it's pretty much a secret that was leaked by some "insider" so you can't expect it to be on the first page of some newspaper or that Sony will ever admit it's true.
It has not been recognized as the official reason but it's pretty much the general consensus that it must be the real reason.
Those sources where recognized as reliable by a lot of knowledgeable people so it's not really a question of knowing them or not, besides i cross checked the information they provided with my personal "trusted insiders" and they confirmed that it's real.
Most of the discussions about this took place on irc and i witnessed and took part in some of them but i don't know if i will be able to retrieve those logs.
But in the end it doesn't matter much if you believe me or not because i'm just trying to inform you about something that has already been established as a fact some time ago but i have a suggestion for you:sometimes it's simply more efficient to research on your own instead of always waiting for somebody else to provide you with some kind of proof

Since I was on 3.15 for a very long time I did research your mentioned claims, but must of missed this general consensus and how it came to be. I did search around, but didn't find anything solid plus it's also the responsibility for the person claiming something as fact to have some sort of evidence on hand to verify such said claims. You can't just go claiming this and that and expect your reader to magically know the source for your claims. Not to be rude or anything. Thanks for sharing.

ok can u please stop saying this unless u enjoy sounding like a total hypocrite! these claims are alot more solid then the ones u were making in a previous thread. and they arent insulting anyone which i cant say the same about your statements

ur thread is still open u have yet to prove a point or respond to any of the reasonable arguments or better yet admit ur claims were false :P

I understand:you want something that the entire world would recognize as solid proof.
Too bad that something like that can't possibly exist for something like a piece of leaked information that sony will never admit it's true and i know that any kind of "circumstantial" evidence i will provide won't be enough for you.
You don't trust my word, you don't trust the sources that everyone else recognizes as reliable and you don't trust the word of people that are a lot more knowledgeable about things than you.
No wait it's more like you don't trust the words from anybody else apart yourself for that matter and only get along with those that thinks the same way as you.
You are in a very sad situation and to be honest i don't even know why you decided to be part of a community if you aren't even prepared to get your mistakes pointed out and corrected by others without the need of some world-recognized-irrefutable-solid-piece-of-evidence.

It's people that think like the OP here that are holding the progress of man kind back! just because someone pirates something doesnt mean the makers of it will instantly say OMFG People stole my game I'm never making another. If piracy would lead to anythig its more intrest in the hardware. pirates will pirate if there is a way simple as that. sony/ea/whoever isn't loosing jack because the person who pirated that title most likely wouldn't have bought it anyways because pirates a cheap asses....

Online mods isn't a bad thing when used in a match pre aranged by friends but they usually result in bans on consoles clearly you have never tried to cheat online with a PS3 before..... I assure you you will get band mabey not the first time but soon there after and creating cheats for a PS3 title isn't exactly easy like it is on PC dude. For that matter online gaming sucks ass anyways....

and to further point on the CFW loosing linux item..... ROFLMFAO The first jailbreak for was a dongle device put out not even remotely related to geohot. frankly linux was removed from preassure from other companies who were loosing business to sony because people wanted to use a bunch of PS3 for a network server over IBM's BMs...... and graf's work was an excelent scape goat for them to use as a cover for it. Geohots work came along much later in the road than any of this crap..... So um yeah the **** you on about?

The rest was cool but I gotta pull you up on that.
The dongle, f0f's key pwnage all came about because of geohots initial work.
He essentially bashed the door down.. f0f found the keys on the kitchen table once inside.
3.41 dongle makers reversed what geohot had dumped, found the exploit and decided to make a quick buck.
None of what we have today would be here without his initial first steps.

Anyhow i love people having their own opinions and i love them having their say on the forum, even if their opinions are filled with as much poo as yours.

Sony are greedy and they have stepped out of line many, many times.

The malware they forced on peoples computers.
The websites/businesses they forced to be closed down.
The removal of OtherOS.

Also piracy happens the majority of this forum does it and im sure you do too.
