This is wonderful! I am going to try it right away on the HTPC.
I voted that I still prefer the PS2 itself which is mainly based on the use of a Memor32 and a non-empty HDD bay. PCSX2 like all emulators still has some issues with certain titles, but it is indeed a fabulous emulator. I'm impressed with the dedication of the Team behind it and I also think that emulator news of this magnitude should be posted over on the front page too!

There's a world of difference since I tried it last, some of those old games are so addictive! My 360 RF board > USB dongle worked a treat with it too which sweetened the deal.
Mad props to the team behind this!

Man i'm actually loving the speedups in this release, this Emulator has always favored Intel builds. but for once its running soomthly for FFX and KH/KH2 on my AMD FX build. out of the box configuration (minus Bios/Controller configs) i rarely dip under 58FPS before i wa slucky to maintain 58FPs and a slow as 48. and this is using the new AVX for AMD FX GS plugin too.

I have tested the Final Fantasy games along with a handful of RPG's and the results are indeed impressive. My HTPC had no issues running it at fullspeed in 1080p using older hardware; Core 2 Quad, 16GB RAM and a GTS 450 w/HDMI output. My shiny new i7 gaming computer ran it like a Ferrari!
The experience does outdo the original PS2 and the PS3's backwards compatibility (hardware and software).
