@DEFAULTDNB , you are just confusing the hair dryer with a heat gun, which is used and can destroy the mobo.

i used the heat gun method twice and almost fried a chip.

Actually some hair dryers can warp the mobo

I've fixed a two XBOX 360's using an oven to to reseat the chips that had come loose due to the motherboard warping and replaced the heat sink screws with something more appropriate. However, one of the two broke beyond my repairing capabilities after a few months of use.
