And with the latest optimizations and the speedhacks you can play flawlessly some games even on a dated/cheapo setup some of them even in 720p/1080p!

Check:
*Kingdom Heats 1,2,RCOM and their Final Mix versions
*Crash Nitro Cart
*Obscure
*Digimon World 4

Combined also with a gamespeed cheat you can play alot of the most demanding ones with a simmilar (but better) effect to frameskipping but with zero issues/bugs on even older PC setups!

I hope PCSX2 team could dedicate a bit of time on PS3 BC on nonBC SKUs now that it is available to anybody. The structure of the routines is very simmilar to PCSX2 so I think what Sony did on the PS2 Classics is something simmilar to the available speedhacks plus some minor CRC hacks/patches.

Not gonna happen. Source is x86 and PS3 is PPC64. Nobody wills to rewrite some stuff that is needed to tackle some issues on the x86 version of the emulator so imagine rewritting the source to PPC64... Way too much work, at the time it will be out PS4 will be already out plus it won't work good, not even near to good and if it took so many years to release the Windows version at this compatibility/quality you can imagine how many time it would take for PS3...

It wouldn't take years, it took years for the windows version because they also did have to figure everything out how the original hardware worked, and how to (best) implement that in software, that's a lot of work, and they still haven't figured everything out. Once all that work has been done and you have the code and such running, it's "easy" for others to port the code (since "all" they have to do is just make the already written code work on other platforms), even if some parts are written in assembly.. Unless ofcourse the original code is one piece of crap spagetti without any documentation.
The biggest problem isn't porting it, the biggest problem is finding someone to do it..

One important question that sounds a bit silly

Does this work with actual PS2 game discs?

Key word being "theoretical"...

Ya absolutely. Just saying now everyone can get a taste of ps2 emulation awesomeness from stock settings regardless of whether they want to tweak or not. I for one like to tweak its like running ps2 games as if they were pc games and being able to mess with the graphics and stability. That was what I wanted to test. All I did was change the window to full screen and made it 1920x1080 and games ran perfectly. Perfect for the masses

Ha ha was thinking the same thing. I spent like an hour checking all my ps2 games and how they run and it seems as though I was more excited to see them run with all their beauty than actually play a game

But I guess I'll give RE Outbreak a go soon
