No problem. Before I got RSOD, I tried to install via XMB. Which lead to RSOD. Should have done via lv2diag.self method.

1. Before you start be in Rogero 3.55 DEX CFW
2. Flash your CEX.EID0.NORBIN in multiman CEX
3. Exit Multiman.
4. Now this is the important part. Do not reboot or turn off ps3 with remote, you will brick it. Do a system update by going into recovery mode, (Turn off Playstation; hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again, once the system has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps; when you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button; you will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button; the Recovery menu will pop up; choose system update.)
Update your PS3 by using Rogero 3.55CEX CFW v3.4 ( this CEX fw have LV1 syscon checks patched to avoid Bricking ).
5. Done, your back to CEX firmware.

If you want you could install your favorite CFW after Rogero 3.55 CEX CFW v3.4.
I'm not responsible for any bricks this may cause. I'm just sharing what I did to convert my ps3 back to CEX from DEX. Good luck!

Hello @dk3417 ,

I have a few clarification.

When you say "Do not reboot or turn off ps3 with remote" what to you mean?

After you have flashed "Flash your CEX.EID0.NORBIN in multiman CEX", You exit Multiman, and you will be back in XMB. Instead of turning of the PS3 via XMB or Controller, Turn off PS3 via power button? Right? Do you straight go to Recovery mode or you shutdown first than to Recovery mode?

If you notice the video, he shutdown the ps3 via XMB, then he goes to recovery menu.

Thank you.

add me to the brick list my ps3 was being very odd.. it wouldn't flash the nor flash in mm then i put her in fsm and tried to flash it there but it just hung and never installed let it sit for like a hour (this is a fat nor ps3) so i turned ps3 off read log and saw it didn't say it flashed it so i tried again same result... i exited fsm (big mistake lol think i remember reading in this thread not to do it but i wasn't to worried about brick kinda wanted a reason to buy a flasher haha) but now i got a ylod ps3.. so i have the cex flash bios and the dex flash bios so should be an easy fix when i get a flasher right? which flasher should i get? e3 limited or progskeet? i have 2 nand ps3's aswell neither are bricked tho

o ya i tried flashing the cex flash in mm on 2 different 3.55 dex firmwares regero's v2, and one i found that had lvl1 and lvl2 patched neither worked, fsm wouldn't flash it either and i know it was a valid cex flash dump was the same one i created my original dex flash with

mm said it couldn't access the flash make sure you are on 3.55 cex/dex.. which i was that is why i said ps3 was being odd, and ps3 wouldn't even flash it when it was in fsm like it was locked down for some reason

was using ps3 advanced preloader 3.1 for flashing in fsm

Gingerbread, I did everything he did in the video except I turned off my ps3 with the power button on the the ps3. I did my friend's ps3 by turning off ps3 via XMB while using the controller but got a brick instead. So basically, I turned off my ps3 with power button than got into recovery mode. Hope that helps. Good luck!

So did you turn off first then go to recovery menu or immediately long press power button?

It it interesting. In some forums, folks say that do not turn off ps3, and perform update via XMB. And some mentions, like you, that you could turn off PS3.

Thanks.

gingerbread... i can confirm that if you use the Lv2diag.self method works to get back to cex.so goes like this put ps3 dex on rogero 355.then place console in fsm then switch of place jacob preloader from step 11 on the usb with you cex backupurbin.bin rename it rflash.bin and wait it will reflash then switch itself off.then place the Lv2diag.self downgrader with rogero cex 3.55 v3.4 then hit the power button on the front of your ps3 it should then copy the update.pup with no screen then switch itself off boot up check your in fsm...turn off then Lv2diag.self to exit fsm.....done...i done this today and am now back on knemu..i beleave that we can go back to dex but at the moment im not even going to try just enjoying the ability to data transfer again.. i didnt not see any recovery menu and the ps3 switched it self off at every stage...
