Hello everyone.

I have been on Kmeaw before but I decided to update my console in order to play Dark Souls online when that came out. Now I have a downgrade-able Slim PS3 with 4.11 firmware.

Is there any disadvantage in updating for me? I figure I might as well go on-line but I fear there may be some security differences between these versions? If you know something let me know.

Btw I can't downgrade, I know my way around computers but I suck at electronics, so I guess that's unfortunately not an option.

Well the choice is easy imho.
You can stay on 4.11 and you can't play online or play new games.
Or you can update, play online and play new games.

I don't see any reason to stay on 4.11 if I were you.

I don't either except for the fact that the security measures might differ. For instance, 3.56 keys were recently released but not posterior keys so there's a good chance that 4.11 keys might differ from 4.21.

Or is my thinking way of?

well u can downgrade with a flasher from 4.20 and i dont see any alternate way of downgrading coming to 4.11
as for 4.20 security we cant really say but its always the risk with updating

really its just a question of do u want to wait around on 4.11 for something that may not happen, or do you want to play online?
or alternately just buy a flasher and go back to 3.55

You could just update the private keys for making CFW 3.60+ haven't been found yet (never will). The only 3.60 keys we have are the public keys and those are only for decrypting game eboots. You can only encrypt to 3.55 keys and if we had the 3.60 private keys we would have a cfw by now since they are still valid up to FW 4.21. The 3.55 private keys we have has been blacklisted by sony and they won't work from 3.60 + FW. For now there's no way to calculate private keys to create custom firmware so your only option is to downgrade from 4.21 to 3.55 if you want homebrew and play backups.

Ok guys, I guess I'll be updating then. Can you just confirm that I can downgrade from 4.21 to 3.55? I am just asking because most guides only mention 4.20, due to not being up to date I'd guess.
