How to increase the numbers of games with PS3GEN
Saw this on eurasia dot nu.
Tested it and it worked!! Step 1: Get a Hex Editor (Source said WinHex but I used HxD cause WinHex needed registration) Step 2: Start HxD (Run as administrator) Step 3: Go to Extras -> Open Disk ![]() Step 4: Choose your External Drive from the Physical Drives and uncheck open as read only (make sure you got the right on, mine was disk 4) ![]() Step 5: Go to search -> Goto (CTRL+G) ![]() Step 6: Set offset as 20000 ![]() Step 7: You'll see something like this (note: some numbers are red on my screenshot since I made this step by step after I edited my disk previously) ![]() A = the number of Games/Partitions on your disk B (05 D3 A0) = Is the offset of each partition (note that in the original source, the offset below B was 00 00 instead of FF 71) Step 8: I changed it to the following ![]() Notice how I changed A into 5 and I added an B Step 9: Load up PS3GEN and you'll see that you have a 5th partition !! ![]() (Note: You'll see that BLES 00926 is double on the screenshot, that's cause it was the backup for which I didn't need to make a new PKG) I tested all 5 images and all games booted !!! :D According to the source, A (the number of games) can be set till 255 (FF) I've only tested 5 to see if it worked. Also note that if you increase A you also need to increase the number of times you have the offset of B. My HDD is 700 GB and I dunno if the partitions auto resize but the extra partition was big enough for Batman AC (7.5 GB). The source also said something about changing the size of a partition but I haven't personally tried that. Enjoy Last edited by Twinkeltoe; 08-11-2012 at 07:53 PM. Reason: clarification & spelling |

A friend of mine told me about that yesterday but I could not find anything about it so I thought he was just messing around. Now it seems he was right. Very good news for us DEX-ers

Anyone know if PS3GEN creates full size 25GB partitions or 50GB for a DL bluray? Or the partitions match the size of the games.
I'm guessing it's generating fullsize partitions from the looks of the gui image, not using DEX currently. That would make the maxiumum nearer 60-70 games, still a much higher number than 4 and I could be wrong anyone on DEX have a clue on this? |

If the structure is correctly generated... all is valid Btw.. this needs an app to rebuild the disc (manually can be a nightmare) and to create the partitions with the accurate sizes of each game *and this is obviously a problem when uninstalling games (not used spaces in the hdd filled with zeroes but with "weird" sizes) Last edited by sandungas; 08-11-2012 at 08:22 PM. |

What we now need to find out is if we can manually set the size of each partition so you don't have 30 partitions of 40 GB but, for instance, 12 partitions of 10 GB, 6 of 40 GB and 12 of 20 GB (depending on the size of the games). But it's 3 am here and I don't feel like building 30 games with PS3GEN just to see how the partition size works lol |

When you format your HDD with ps3gen , does it take up all it's space or you can just format a pre-defined partition ?
