Question Recently acquired a phat on 3.6...

Hello,

N00b here. I know little about the ps3 scene but have read up an hour or so.

I recently acquired a phat 40gb from a friend. It was ylod and I resurrected it via reflow/thermal paste. It did not have a hard drive in it, but I have a spare. When I booted it up, it asks to be restored to 3.6 or higher software. Does anyone know where the 3.6 firmware can be acquired? I noticed that most of the older firmwares on Sony's site are 404'ed. I didn't want to restore to a higher version in order to maximize the "opportunities" that can be had with 3.6. Also, let me know if this isn't the route I should be taking.

Thanks in advance!

ps3devwiki has all firmwares you could need

http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/firmware/OFW-CEX/

You cant obviously jailbreak 3.60, so tbh, you should either update to 4.21 and enjoy PSN or buy an E3 flasher and downgrade to 3.55.

suptoyou

PS3 Fats are amazing but they are fragile like glass. Downgrading on NAND Fat require soldering. Unless you have a NOR Fat, you could use a NOR chip clip. I am sure that there are some experts here who can assist you.

Also, since you mention that you have resurrected it via reflow/thermal paste. The chances of having YLOD again is very high.

Please don't quote me. There might be a 3.60 CFW in near future. Maybe. 50-50.

Haha. No one. But a scene with full of drama and stuff, I just want to caution folks who are new to the community.

Thanks for the helpful info, everyone. I got it running with 3.6 for now and will read up some more. The serial on it is CECHH, which appears to be a NOR model.
