Nope. Your PS3 would have to have come from the showroom, with 3.55 or lower.

playerkp420, you are right, but i talked about the known official method to do it.
I`ve experimented with the switches and got some permabrick also, so to the noobs reading this is safer to solder tri-state point to avoid big problems.




rohitrro, no matter wich version you have if dont have a 3000 series, if is a 2000 just check de base fw version(it came from the factory,no showroom)
Download "minimum version check.pup" > rename it PS3UPDAT.PUP> copy that to a usb stick fat32: PS3>UPDATE>(here the .pup renamed).

Go to "UPDATE from usb stick" in your XMB(NO FEAR) AND ACEPT, you can read the base version now.
If it is 3.55 or lower you can downgrade to any "no-check" cfw(rogero v3.1 or major, kmeaw no-check), a common 3.55 fw will brick your ps3.
Read the forum, thre are a lot of posts about that.

I am having an issue getting this to work. Here is what I get when trying it...




BTW, I do have the dump in the folder with the .Exe and am running on Windows XP.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Did you drag the file and drop it onto the .exe?

Do you have a folder named Data? With 4 patch.bin files in it?

Yes I put my dump in the folder with the .exe and then dropped it on the .exe and that was my outcome.

And yes there are 4 patch files in the data folder.

Have you validated your backup to make sure it is a good dump?
Also make sure your dump is named bkpps3.bin
Maybe try and delete the app and re download it.


How it says "Error opening patch file" makes me think the patch files are missing, named wrong, or corrupt.

Do you have another pc you can try it on? I know it works on my Windows 7.

I have had eussNL validate my dump
It is named bkpps3.bin
The patch files in the data folder are named (patch1.bin, patch1n.bin, patch2.bin, patch2n.bin)

I will check on another pc now.

I just tried the auto-patcher on another pc running Win 7 and it worked flawlessly.

It must be something that my XP is missing......

Anyway thanks for your help.

Btw, to use the patched file I just need to rename it to bkpps3.bin right?

Yes, just rename to bkpps3.bin. Then flash with all switches down. Always flash patched backups with all switches down.
